Hello, I hope it hasn't been too long for you, I've been looking back at all the homework submissions and they are really backed up for a while.
Good news: I'll be checking your homework today, breaking it down into sections.
Lines
I can see you're going off course towads the end of some lines, as long as you're aware of this and try to correct your future lines you'll be fine.
Ellipses
You did great with the size of the ellipses, but did stop short on a few of them, you want to try to go over them fully at least twice, no more than 3
Boxes
Rough perspective is a bit far off on some of the boxes, make sure you're ghosting to the vanishing point as often as you need before making the marks
Next Steps:
You may work on the 250 box challenge while waiting for the badge for this lesson, remember to keep to the 50/50 rule, even when studying outside of draw a box, taking that time to draw for yourself is a crucial habit to take on as an artist
The following are my personal recommentaions and are NOT part of the Draw-A-Box program
There should be a few 30-day drawing challenges on the web, I did one by Marc Brunet on youtube and by applying the techniques from this lesson you will see an improvent if not a bit more understanding after getting through it
There is also a few PDF library websites you can find free art books in, I suggest picking a few that you like and tracing some of the line art examples, then doing an extra page without directly tracing it, you can also do this with other media like photos
You can also try to find landscapes and figure out where the horizon line is, finding a building and then trying to find where the vanishing point is, its a great exercise to do a few times if you are struggling with perspective.
Finally, while waiting for homework to be checked in the future, you might want to look into gesture drawing, using 2-5 minute poses, doing a few of these a week is great for developing your observation skills.
Ellipse Master Template
This recommendation is really just for those of you who've reached lesson 6 and onwards.
I haven't found the actual brand you buy to matter much, so you may want to shop around. This one is a "master" template, which will give you a broad range of ellipse degrees and sizes (this one ranges between 0.25 inches and 1.5 inches), and is a good place to start. You may end up finding that this range limits the kinds of ellipses you draw, forcing you to work within those bounds, but it may still be worth it as full sets of ellipse guides can run you quite a bit more, simply due to the sizes and degrees that need to be covered.
No matter which brand of ellipse guide you decide to pick up, make sure they have little markings for the minor axes.
