hi there ,

Welcome to Draw a Box Lessons . lets see here:

Lines :

  • Your superimposed lines are looking pretty good .They seem to be executed with confidence , doing good there . I see you have drawn your lines in various directions . I hope you had rotated your page like the lesson had adviced .

  • Your ghosted lines are good too, except for 2 or 3 wobbly line but dont worry as long as you had drawn from your shoulder. Remember to ghost your lines to build up muscle memory and confidence . Good job there !

  • Same with the ghosted planes !

    Ellipses :

  • your table of ellipses are mostly drawn out of the boundaries but this isn't a serious problem . what you need to worry about is drawing your ellipses wobbly . i see many of your ellipses quite wobbly . Make sure to ghost them before executing .and you shouldn't draw over the ellipses more than 3 times . 3 times is acceptable but 2 times is more preferable .

  • Same problem with your ellipses in funnel exercise . ellipses quite wobbly . Are you really drawing from your shoulder ? Did you ghost them ? The exterior arcs should be traced from circular object like bowls or plates .

  • some of the ellipses on plane are neatly done but most happens to be wobbly . again , use your shoulder and ghost them before drawing. be confident . Remember , confidence must have more priority than accuracy.

Boxes

  • your plotted perspective seems fine except it got messy . i don't know what pen you used but drawabox recommends to use fineliners { they are necessary after 250 box } .

  • rough perspective is very poorly done . I'm sorry it looks like you haven't applied any rules you had learned from LINES exercise .

  • what actually horrible about your rotated box is your LINES . Perspective of your rotated box isn't that bad .

  • organic perspective isn't good either . please don't draw over the line which is already drawn except when the lesson actually asks to . dont try to correct the line which is already done . again the problem is your line .

Next Steps:

i'm sorry but you have a lot to do again :

  • apply everything you learned at previous lessons on other lesson too . i.e. line making

  • did you miss the dots marking ? please check it out

  • ghost your ellipses properly and do the funnel exercise again .

  • i would love to see of 2 pages of rough perspective and organic perspective with your lines executed finely .dont worry about the accuracy . just draw your lines confidently . Good luck :)

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Pentel Pocket Brush Pen

Pentel Pocket Brush Pen

This is a remarkable little pen. Technically speaking, any brush pen of reasonable quality will do, but I'm especially fond of this one. It's incredibly difficult to draw with (especially at first) due to how much your stroke varies based on how much pressure you apply, and how you use it - but at the same time despite this frustration, it's also incredibly fun.

Moreover, due to the challenge of its use, it teaches you a lot about the nuances of one's stroke. These are the kinds of skills that one can carry over to standard felt tip pens, as well as to digital media. Really great for doodling and just enjoying yourself.
