Hey!

Regarding lines section:

Most super imposed lines are great, however I'm noticing that a couple are frayed on both ends, try and slow down and purposefully place the pen when starting the line, ideally all the points on one end of the line should be concentrated to a small area.

In your ghosted lines and planes, some lines are looking a bit shaky but fairly accurate, practice using your shoulder and elbow will improve the confidence and smoothness of your lines. concentrate on one fluid motion.

Regarding your ellipses:

The table of ellipses are very accurate in terms of where the edges of your ellipses meet the edges of the tables so that is good, however some of them are a bit shaky, practicing the fluid motion will help greatly. Good work on analyzing your mistakes, this is a great way to improve quickly as you will know exactly where you need to make improvements!

The ellipses on the planes are in the correct place but again they are a bit shaky, remember to ghost the lines before commiting them to paper and draw from your shoulder as much as possible! also it looks like you may be going a bit slowly and carefully in order to get the ellipse in the correct place, you may need to speed up your mark making a bit in order to get a smooth confident line.

The ellipses in funnels exercise is very good! for the most part they are correctly positioned on the minor axis, I think you understand elipses well enough but just need to focus on the fluidity of the line. practise as much as possible and you will improve!

Regarding your boxes:

Your plotted perspective boxes are really good, no issues there.

Your rough perspective boxes are also very good, I can see that after the first few you got into the swing of it and all the parallel lines converge nicely on or very near to the vanishing point which is great.

Your rotated boxes are good, the lines are clear and I can see all the boxes turning clearly in perspective, I would suggest drawing a bit bigger than this though but other than that, very good job.

When it comes to the organic perspective boxes, In most cases it's clear where the boxes are in space, however I would have liked to see more variation in size to really show which boxes are closer and which ones are far away, the line quality of these boxes I feel Isn't quite as clean as your rotated boxes, keep drawing with your elbow and shoulder and ghost the lines before making them so you know where the line is going to be.

Overall I think you have done well and understood all the points, my main feedback would be to focus on the basics when it comes to making lines; ghosting, drawing from the shoulder and most importantly practice as much as possible! I think you are ready to move on to the 250 box challenge where you will have plenty of practice with your lines and also your understanding of 3D space, it's going to be tough so good luck!

Next Steps:

Continue doing these exercises as a warmup as you continue through the lessons

I agree with this critique.

Thank you on the feedback , i can see the points you make. It takes time and practice to get used to drawing with the shoulder, i'll be trying to improving on that aswell with ghosting lines more and being more careful when drawing the lines. Thanks again for the help :)

The Art of Brom

The Art of Brom

Here we're getting into the subjective - Gerald Brom is one of my favourite artists (and a pretty fantastic novelist!). That said, if I recommended art books just for the beautiful images contained therein, my list of recommendations would be miles long.

The reason this book is close to my heart is because of its introduction, where Brom goes explains in detail just how he went from being an army brat to one of the most highly respected dark fantasy artists in the world today. I believe that one's work is flavoured by their life's experiences, and discovering the roots from which other artists hail can help give one perspective on their own beginnings, and perhaps their eventual destination as well.
