Lesson 3: Applying Construction to Plants
6:19 PM, Thursday August 26th 2021
Hello. Here are the plants I drew for lesson 3 together with their reference images. They're all pictures of plants in my house :)
The flow of your lines is good and you really try to explore 3D space.
The branches feel pretty organic , and your leaves too.
You could exaggerate the flow of your flowers in the first drawing, so they don't look stiffened, it could also help with your leaves.
You could use less elipses in your branches in the second drawing and also keep working on your confidence.
Your use of the constructional method in the plants with leaves is good.
I would recommend that you use something with organic forms like mushrooms and keep working on your flow with lines.
Hello, thanks for your reply!
I've done a mushroom and a cactus like you suggested:
(I don't own the rights to the mushroom picture);
When it comes to technical drawing, there's no one better than Scott Robertson. I regularly use this book as a reference when eyeballing my perspective just won't cut it anymore. Need to figure out exactly how to rotate an object in 3D space? How to project a shape in perspective? Look no further.
