Hi Wackoloco,

2 filled pages of Superimposed lines - Good job. I can tell you took the time to align your pen tip to the starting point! Meaningful practice overtime will get you better at this exercise.

1 filled page of Ghosted lines - Many of your ghosted lines are good, but many miss the starting point. Make sure you take your time to align your pen tip when ghosting and when you finally draw your line. I am going to chock up the clear mistakes to you being new to this! That is nothing to be ashamed of. I still make mistakes like that and I have been doing this for over a year. Confidence comes with time!

2 filled pages of Ghosted planes - I am assuming you did your ellipses in planes exercise after you did the ghosted planes exercise. Your planes are looking good to me. Some of your lines are wobbly. Make sure you are using your shoulder and drawing fast.

2 filled pages of Tables of ellipses - Nice job on your tables of ellipses. More practice and you will be making perfect ellipses in no time. I can see you went through your ellipses a couple of times! ????

2 filled pages of Ellipses in planes - All I can say is good job. Make sure you try to hit all four interior sides. I can see that you were attempting to do so.

1 filled page of Ellipses in funnels - Beautiful! Marvelous! Your circles are improving. You may not be able to see it, but I can. Don't worry, you have the rest of your life to improve!

1 filled page of Plotted perspective - Looks good to me.

2 filled pages of Rough perspective - Many of your lines here were wobbly. Perhaps drawing smaller than usual caused this issue. Make sure you get used to drawing lines with your shoulder and that you are drawing fast.

1 filled pages of Rotated boxes - The next time you do this exercise, use this as a reference: https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/9a2db6a0.jpg I can tell you tried your best, but as you will learn in future drawabox lessons, using a reference matters.

2 filled pages of Organic perspective - Some of your lines were not confident here, but many were. I must sound like a broken record, but please use your shoulder.

Overall, a nice job. You are ready for the next challenge! Please practice a page of ghosted planes and a page of rotated boxes. Make sure you use your shoulder. That practice is for yourself.

Lars

I just wanted to add that I see a lot of wobbling in the lines for the Rough Perspective Assignment, so I'd recommend more line practice when you do your warm-ups in the future. Try and remind yourself - confident over accuracy. It's more important for your lines to be straight than it is to hit the end point.

Also, once a line has been drawn, don't correct it by drawing over it. The idea is that once you've drawn a line, good or bad, you'll have to work with it.

Otherwise, I agree with Lars.

The Art of Blizzard Entertainment

While I have a massive library of non-instructional art books I've collected over the years, there's only a handful that are actually important to me. This is one of them - so much so that I jammed my copy into my overstuffed backpack when flying back from my parents' house just so I could have it at my apartment. My back's been sore for a week.

The reason I hold this book in such high esteem is because of how it puts the relatively new field of game art into perspective, showing how concept art really just started off as crude sketches intended to communicate ideas to storytellers, designers and 3D modelers. How all of this focus on beautiful illustrations is really secondary to the core of a concept artist's job. A real eye-opener.
