Hello, Bernadetta! I am Keisari, and I'm here to critique your Lesson 1 submission. Before we start, I'd like to congratulate you for completing Lesson 1! The journey of Drawabox is a tough one and the worse is still to come, but you've proven to have the initiative. You are part of the community, and we also appreciate you. :)

Lines

Although some hesitation and wobbliness can be perceived here and there, your lines mostly look great! Your main issue regarding them seems to be arching, so make sure you're engaging your shoulder as your main arm pivot. You may also want to experiment with making your marks with greater speed, as that could potentially help with making them smoother. Other than that, they will get better with mileage, so don't forget about your warmups!

Ellipses

Your ellipses need work. I think the main problem here is that you seem to be prioritizing confidence over accuracy. It's fine to overshoot and it's fine for them to not be perfectly placed -- smoothness and confidence are your highest priorities, don't let anything take precedence over that! I'm not gonna ask for revisions, but I'd like you to revisit the page on the Ghosting Method and work on that in your future warmups.

Boxes

Your boxes are very well constructed and you've shown a proper understanding of the concepts and information presented in the lesson. Errors in the Rotated Boxes exercise are to be expected, and you'll get a lot more mileage to understand boxes and how they rotate in the 250 Box Challenge, which I'm directing you to. Good luck!

The Art of Blizzard Entertainment

While I have a massive library of non-instructional art books I've collected over the years, there's only a handful that are actually important to me. This is one of them - so much so that I jammed my copy into my overstuffed backpack when flying back from my parents' house just so I could have it at my apartment. My back's been sore for a week.

The reason I hold this book in such high esteem is because of how it puts the relatively new field of game art into perspective, showing how concept art really just started off as crude sketches intended to communicate ideas to storytellers, designers and 3D modelers. How all of this focus on beautiful illustrations is really secondary to the core of a concept artist's job. A real eye-opener.
