50 percent rule!

Something that really piqued my attention is the 50 percent rule! It's definetly true that we tend to lose the fun in drawing as we grow up. I have a question though? When doind the 50 percent rule and you're "drawing for fun" is copying from reference allowed or that wouldn't be "fun"anymore? Should we only draw what we are thinking?

You can definitely use reference in your own recreational drawing :)

You can use refrence to draw something you want for fun purposes. That is allowed, yep.

If you've not seen it yet, Uncomfortable uploaded a new video explaining the 50% Rule; it's pretty informative. You can check it out here: Drawabox Lesson 0, Part 3: Changing your Mindset and the 50% Rule.

Cottonwood Arts Sketchbooks

These are my favourite sketchbooks, hands down. Move aside Moleskine, you overpriced gimmick. These sketchbooks are made by entertainment industry professionals down in Los Angeles, with concept artists in mind. They have a wide variety of sketchbooks, such as toned sketchbooks that let you work both towards light and towards dark values, as well as books where every second sheet is a semitransparent vellum.
