Firstly, I apologize for the number of ink smears you may see on the pages. I was using a ballpoint for a little while until my fineliners arrived and I think its ink is a little wetter than I remember.

One question: when it comes to drawing boxes at sharp/slanted angles, what is a good technique for reliably adjusting the strokes I make as those angles begin to shift? I was trying to use the Y pattern during Organic Perspective to keep it simple, but it's difficult to make my physical technique match the angles I picture in my head, and I really want to master the mechanics of it.

try to draw more confident lines (fast enough) with your whole arm(dont just move your hand) so you dont get wobly lines on your boxes and it might also help to the shadow lines that are good but at the end have a curve

Yeah, I had an issue with consistency after applying ghosting. Sometimes I would be in a good rhythm, and other times, I would slip up randomly. I noticed the moments where I would lift my pen to end my stroke was a trouble spot for me with those wobbly curves, so I'll practice more with circles/boxes on my own time to get better muscle memory for it. It also can't hurt to include a few more repetitions with ghosting to help with consistency. Thank you and appreciate the feedback!

for the difficult angles hopefully this answer your question https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/10/rotating

also practice the ellipses more, try to make them more even, try to ghost more, based on Scott Robertson's book, if you fold the ellipse on the minor axis the two end should align with eachother. But as you already have some problem with line confidence, work on your line first, the muscle memory and technique from the line exercise would help with drawing the ellipse.

sorry, forgot to put the revisions.

Next Steps:

try to read and go through lesson 1 again, take your time, don't rush it, as it'll take time to get used to the technique and for it to become a habit, cheers!

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Color and Light by James Gurney

Color and Light by James Gurney

Some of you may remember James Gurney's breathtaking work in the Dinotopia series. This is easily my favourite book on the topic of colour and light, and comes highly recommended by any artist worth their salt. While it speaks from the perspective of a traditional painter, the information in this book is invaluable for work in any medium.
