Thanks for the kind words! I hear what you're saying about the cylinders, I think I just need to more muscle memory. Looking forward to the next lesson!

Thanks for putting the note together. I can definitely see how I missed the mark on those torso forms. Previously I had been trying to connect the ribs and pelvis in one stroke. In this set, I tried to use two lines separately.

Thanks for the feedback. Here's my Oryx attempt

Thanks for the feedback. In retrospect I think I can see what you mean about being more careful with observation. I think I just got lazy when it came to drawing the legs. I tried to be more careful with proportion with this set.

As requested, here's 3 more pages of bugs.. I knew something was off with my beetles last time, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it while I was drawing. I think I see what you mean about the flatness of my ellipses, so I drew a bunch of contour lines this time around to help guide myself. Thanks!

Thank you for the advice! I have a question about drawing ellipses while observing the reference. I have trouble keeping proportions and placement accurate when I draw each section. On the one hand, I'm trying to draw the ellipse quickly, and to draw through it. One the other hand, I want to keep an eye on proportion and accuracy. It it just a matter of more careful ghosting? Should I put markers on the page to give myself a target to hit?

Sorry if I missed this, but in terms of drawing from the shoulder, does this also apply to vertical lines? Going horizontal, locking my wrist and elbow are fine, but when moving up and down it seems like some elbow bending is inevitable.

Hey Uncomfortable, I have some old drawings that I did before I started taking this course more seriously. I was hoping you could take a look at them before I reattempt. ugh, lined paper

I made a mental note not to foreshorten too dramatically, but a made some mistakes in the execution. Will keep it in mind, thanks!

I gave it another shot! I can see what you mean about the larger paper, definitely gave me more room to work. I'm also less prone to resort to wrist drawing when I draw larger shapes. Thanks! http://imgur.com/a/DlHZ0

By the way, I was wondering if you had any guidelines for the 'y' method of drawing boxes. That is, are there any general rules of thumb we should observe when drawing that initial 'y'?

Thanks for the fast and detailed response! That's a fair point about blank paper. The problem is I do a lot of my work during my lunch break, and that's the kind of paper I have available. I've been try to do more work on white paper at home, but if it's a choice between drawing or not drawing on my lunch break, I'd rather draw. Thanks again, and I'll get to work on those 250 boxes!
