Insects.

Doing the shape of the butterfly was really difficult and I still botched it.

The first page of lay-ins was done before I found the critiques you did regarding the excessive amount of contour lines. I made the same mistake when I drew the first plant, so I redid it using only a few of the striations as contour lines and the result was much cleaner.

I think I need to practice a few more organic forms with contour lines to get those curvatures in good shape.

As for textures, that is something I have a lot of trouble with. The new self-critique section you linked there has plenty of information that would have been very helpful back when I was doing these exercises.

Thanks again for the critique.

The only reason I'm submitting so quickly is because I already did four lessons in advance, which in retrospect wasn't a good idea as the critique I received would've certainly improved the later homework. Anyway, I apologize for abusing the queue. I will hold onto lesson 4 until next weekend.

Done. By the 200s I was in autopilot, drawing without really thinking.

Lesson 3.

I feel like I could've done a better job with the lay-ins and some of the plants, such as the palm tree and the cactus, but I'm happy with the overall results.

Sounds good. I can already see improvements on my ellipses while doing the 250 cylinder challenge. Line weight is something I have trouble with because the ink pen gives me little control over it.

Thanks a lot for the critique, it really helps. I will keep the explanation on contour lines in mind.

More intersections, this time without underdrawings and following the new instructions on the lesson.

I'll begin working on the 250 cylinder challenge next.

Here goes lesson 2.

Had a lot of fun with the textures. The intersections were really hard until I realized it's all about math and geometry. Things like "sphere-plane intersection always results in an ellipse aligned with the plane" and "cone-plane intersection can result in a circle, ellipse, line or parabola depending on angle & position" made the exercise much easier.

I took the liberty of completing the 250 boxes challenge ahead of time since I figured it would be helpful and /u/Uncomfortable would probably ask for it. Here it is.
