spiralpen in the post "250 Cylinder Challenge"

Hi uncomfortable ! Its been several days since my last post but out of nowhere I got an unexplainable urge to draw cylinders!

250 cylinders here

I know the lines doesnt look the prettiest but for some reason I decided to get a real coarse paper, mixed media and the felt tip pen doesnt like it that much! Also , trying to add different line weight messed with me as well, it often times didnt improve the cylinder but made it look messier , but Im working on it.

Okay , Im ready for critique now!

Hi Uncomfortable,

Phew this was harder than I thought but I finished with the pages, and id like to feel I learned a lot.. there are several more pages I made, studies of drawing several different faces because that is what I felt was my biggest struggle.

I am so sorry that my pages are a big jumble every single time i submit, I know it must make things more difficult. I did start with birds and ended with the hybrids... i just cannot get imgur to cooperate in the correct order, and when i try to fix it, i somehow delete images..

Thank you so much, yes the spider was my last attempt and I did feel like I understood more the line weight thing in certain areas instead. Liked using them on the bends of the legs etc!

Woho So glad to be done with the insects & arachnids for now :D

First off, thank you so much for the detailed comment. I finally understand now what you mean by the texture and the absence of detail for shadowy areas makes so much sense. So it was hard not to try it out with the other two pages especially since I realise that adding detail was more my way of trying to correct my foundation mistakes...So you told me to do two pages I had to fill up half a sketchbook with these awful creepy things.

Edit: ehhhh... accidentally deleted my original comment so it will look odd now obviously, here is my original link in case you need that for reference: http://imgur.com/a/oaMwo

Thanks a lot for the remark Uncomfortable, I really appreciate it and will keep your suggestions in mind for the creepy crawlies step, eep.

I can admit that two of those pages I used a ballpoint pen, only because my pens dried out, I bought another meh fine line pen "uni pen fine line" and I am rather unhappy with it. Obviously not all of felt tip/fineliners are equal... With the staedtler I could still create a lighter vs darker mark, but with this one it seems like it stays the same size/darkness no matter how much pressure I use.. is that still alright? Feels like re-learning lines all over again

On to those creepers I go!

Thanks a lot! I re-read the thing about dramatic shortening and it makes a lot of sense now. I will watch the axis and sketchyness too, you help a lot !!

It is harder than I thought to not try to correct my lines, and to ghost lines, I feel like I got better at it in the end though
