Sorry about the commentary. I was frustrated with the results, felt overwhelmed with the lesson, didn't get to grips with the sausage technique and rushed pretty much trough all the drawings. I'd put down 3 marks and hated em, constantly felt like 'Ctrl - Z'ing, which was not possible and upset me. I mean seeing a mistake and not being able to correct it. Thoughts that I should 'give up' or that 'this stuff is just not working for me' constantly ringed through my mind, disappointing myself more and more after every finished drawing. Honestly I felt somewhat ashamed of uploading the lesson. It felt like it was way below what I was capable of, maybe it is, or maybe not and I just think to high of myself and need to reassess my abilities...
- that's pretty much what I should've said but I used that commentary instead to vent my frustration.
Here are the 2 extra insect drawings.
-
I worked on my mindset and although I'm still not really happy with them, working on them was by far not as painful as the ones before. -just an exercise / not drawing pretty pictures-
-
I focused more on the sausages, getting them correct. Still felt somewhat weird to me, I understand the Idea with remaining the gesture of the legs, but I feel like I'd rather be using flow-lines and then cylinders.
-
1 Question for future submissions: -> Should I include my 'mental struggles' when submitting? Like I did above, not how I did it in the commentary. I feel as though the 'mindset' is rather important in reaching any goal/getting better in any hobby. I mean the patreon covers critiques, not 'coaching' right?
- Enough of me rambling on here, just say the word and I'll cut the 'mind-spilling' in future submissions/comments.
Anyway,
As always thanks for everything!

Thanks again, this illustrates it very well. : )

Thanks for clearing things up for me! I'll be back with Lesson 4 in 12 + Days.
And just one more thing, with the cati, where I added the bumps n spikes that flatted it. How should I go about that,
-
leave it out completely on constructional exercises and only adding it with texture,
-
Or should I add some contour lines. build like a grid over the form like you would see on a 3D Modell
-
Or should I just like you've written in the 'Telling a convincing lie' part, trick myself into believing on drawing in thirth dimension - I'm not too sure if the results will differ...

Hopefully I got it right this time. (Shroom Ref Included)
Just some notes/questions from me:
-
I got the stem on Shroom "A" wrong, I started at the bottom and then switched to the top when I noticed that the bottom one is too thicc. :(
-
The Mushrooms in my 3 extra Plant drawings were I added vague lines was purely laziness as I thought texture was not necessary. (But I sure can use some texture exercises as I would count it amongst my weaknesses)
-
When you said to use the same pen is it meant in using the one single same pen or pens of the same kind - (Faber-Castell PITT artist Pen (I got several of these, each with a varying degree of deadness))
-
I still have trouble to internalize the closing forms off or form intersection thing, the one where my lines just entirely stop. Just so I understand this right.
-
I should stick to basic forms, in a sense building the subject out of simple forms.
- So I should first determine a basic form for the cactus - long flat sphere - and draw that form in its entirety, and then carve out/add the specific form of the actual cactus I see, right?

Here is my attempt at Lesson 3: "Attempt at Lesson 3"
Lesson 3 was twice the point where I stopped, because I procrastinated, felt overwhelmed and frustrated. This time around tho I finally completed it, and I'm looking forward to your critique.
I personally feel most satisfied with the shrooms and most disgusted dissatisfied with the Pitcher plants / Potato Plants. If I was to critique myself I would say I was sloppy sometimes and lacked patience/ rushed. Especially with the plants with a shit ton lot of leaves, I quickly felt overwhelmed and wanted to resort to drawing the contour and not draw trough and trough because that quickly became confusing af and made me feel really uncomfortable (^(wink wink)).
Yours faithfully,

So Uncomfortable,
two extra pages of organic forms with curves just like you ordered. Hope it pleases.

Hey Uncomfortable/Karim/Ishrad/Boss I really don't know how to call you ... what would you prefer?.. anyway. I'm finally through with lesson 2 (again). Textures were (again) definitely the, as you would probably put it, most uncomfortable for me. Finding the motivation to do 'em was probably even harder than actually drawing them cries. The form intersections tho where actually fun and I guess I got em somewhat right, anyhow, i'm really looking forward to your feedback.

Here goes my 250 Box Challenge.
As mentioned briefly before I have already done all the exercises (but without critique) up to the plants lesson where I got frustrated and stopped. This time I'm planing on finally going trough the whole Draw a Box curriculum.
I did lesson one and the Box challenge again because you can always get some more exercise, right? But my question is if I should also do Lesson 2 and the cylinder challenge again or just go the the plants straight away? I could upload my old stuff but I'm not sure if it would present my current Skill-lvl right. I'm guessing I should do it again and have you take a look at it?
Thanks for the help!
