Woo! Guess I'll celebrate by drawing a few boxes for the box god.
I definitely plan to come back and do the texture challenge (and advanced lessons, eventually!) but I want to get into figure drawing first. I know about Prokopenko of course, but do you have any other recommendations?

Okay, here we go: https://imgur.com/a/jlW0W
I clearly screwed up the proportions on the first one real bad. Sorry about that. By the time I realized that was waaay too wide I just had to roll with it. I did try to keep all you said in mind thoughout, though.
I think the front of cars is absolutely the hardest thing for me so far. By the time I can get around to subdividing it into smaller forms there are some many lines in the way that I lose track of what I'm trying to construct. And they're always so rounded and weird! What's with the shape of those lights!? No amount of construction lines seems to help me there. I kind of wish cars were still all old-school blocky...
Thanks as always!

Hi Uncomfortable, here's my homework for this lesson: https://imgur.com/a/cB2aV
I feel like it finally "clicked" when I got to the car. Though I'm not really happy with the smart car that came after it... that thing had a lot more curved shapes that I realized.
Thanks for the feedback as always!

Thank you so much! I'll get started on the vehicles right away then.

Hi Uncomfortable! Here's my homework for this lesson: https://imgur.com/a/eHsmj
Honestly, this one was hell for me. At least at first. After a while I lost track of what lines meant what and couldn't wrap my head around them at that point. I do think I was screwing up a lot less by the last few pages though.

Hi Uncomfortable! I was forced to take and extended break in the middle of the semester, but I finally got around to finishing lesson 5. Here's my homework: https://imgur.com/a/b2627
Happy new year, and thanks for all the new videos!

Hi Uncomfortable! Here's my lesson 4 attempt: https://imgur.com/a/oKfvB
This took a while, but I think they came out well enough. I've noticed I tend to really overdo the line weight at times because I subconsciously try to hide all of the "ugly" construction lines underneath, so I'm working on not doing that as much. I also know my lines get a way scratchy at times, especially when it comes to the legs and parts I might perceive as "less important". So that's one more thing I'm trying to put an end to.
Also, I don't think I had ever actually looked at these things before. They're all way uglier than I thought.

Thank you for the feedback! I'll keep working on the branches from time to time. Can't wait to draw some critters!

Congratulations! I wish I had found Draw A Box years ago, honestly. I've always been interested in drawing but the books and courses I tried only taught me how to copy. I could never find a method to it, so I "got lost" and kept dropping it time and again. I've only just started these lessons, but I really think this approach you teach is what I was missing all this time. So, thanks a lot!

Thank you! I'll definitely give the texture challenge a go while going through lesson 3.

Hi Uncomfortable, here's my lesson 2 homework submission: http://imgur.com/a/xcqKk
I feel the textures in the dissections exercise are pretty weak. I know it's not really the big point of that exercise but I had no idea how to represent the sliminess of the octopus tentacle, or the texture of a leaf, no matter how much I looked at the reference. The lesson on plants will be fun I bet.
Thanks for your time as always!

Hi Uncomfortable! Here's my 250 boxes challenge: https://imgur.com/a/nebKe
One extra thing I learned during this challenge: pigment liners really don't last very long, huh? Sorry about the scribbling in the margins of some pages - kept trying to make sure ink was flowing right.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the feedback! I actually already did the boxes challenge though, since I saw the form intersections exercise in lesson 2 and wanted to make sure I could draw through my forms well enough. Should I submit it in the challenge section since it's done or nah?

Hi! New patreon supporter here. Here's my lesson 1 homework: https://imgur.com/a/4PraY
I finished it a few weeks ago, so I might have improved slightly since then as I've been doing the boxes challenge and part of lesson 2, but my lines and ellipses still look pretty much the same as they do here.
The rotated boxes disco ball exercise took me a few tries. That's definitely the messiest of the bunch, but I do think repeating it a few times helped me quite a bit. The first few attempts didn't even get the first rotation right.
Hopefully it's all alright. Thanks for your time!

Well, I'll start with Proko tomorrow and see how things go from there. Thanks for everything!
