LairaKlock in the post "Lesson 6: Drawing Everyday Objects"

Thanks for the feedback! It's interesting that your favourite drawings are those of stuff you cannot identiy :D I'll take that into consideration when I start lesson 7 (cylon raider for you, sir!).

But I'm somewhat upset that you think I wasn't doing warmups. They were done even on those days when I had no time or desire to draw and somehow they didn't transfer to the lessons...

It's amazing that it took me under 2 weeks to complete this lesson. At the same time, I feel like the submission doesn't offer any outstanding work. Just me trying to figure out how to navigate the 1001 subdivision line.

Leaving the rest to the box deity:

And...done! I don't think I have anything to comment on. Will be waiting for your critique :3

Thank you for the feedback. For the 5 animals references, does it matter if the last 3 are full bodies or heads only and whether those are old animals or those I haven't tackled yet?

Most of the references that I've used for this. https://imgur.com/gallery/oKi8LWH

Well...most that I found.

The time has finally come! After a long month, including a break, I can finally submit lesson 5. My apologies for the lighting, the place I usually use to take photos was occupied. https://imgur.com/a/xh6t49N Let me know if you need to clarify something.

Proportions ended up being key to making a puma distinguishable from a boar. I found skeletons to be quite useful in establishing where the meat sacks go in less well defined reference photos.

Thank you for the feedback!

The bee was actually suppose to be a bumble bee. That's how off I was with it ^^' I think my biggest mistake was to give it a sort of belly that overshadowed the thorax and it's frontal connection to the abdomen. The fuzziness really confused me.

Few notes:

It took me a while to finish this lesson, partially because of time constraints and partially due to my own lack of desire to draw insects. Nevertheless, the research process itself turned out to be quite interesting, so thank you for this lesson!

For the bee I have included 3 different stages of me drawing it, as it seems like I've over rendered it to the point that you cannot see the construction. There's also not much study of the bee, only the leg.

The beetle appears to have had it's head broken. It's not the reference image, it's me going with the lines I have put down on paper. Poor Mr Beetle :(

It also seems like I've messed up the proportions on the scorpion, specifically the far legs and one of the pincers. This particular scorpion does have small pincers overall, but one of them is still off.

I believe that's all from my side. Will be waiting for your critique.

LairaKlock in the post "Lesson 3: Drawing Plants"

I actually meant to ask whether that's the specific exercise for learning to show a form's weight. No slacking on warm-ups from my side, sir.

Thank you for the feedback!

Just one additional question, if I may. I felt like I wasn't able to convey the idea of weight in any of these pages. Should I go back to organic intersections or do another exercise to improve?

Some notes:

I have only included my first attempts at leaves and stems, with some additional ones being done in-between the plants.

The first entry for the plants wasn't something I wanted to include, as it was my first take at a plant and it didn't go anywhere - 4 attempts at the same angle of a Venus Flytrap. Then again, I don't see any harm in getting additional feedback.

There are 3 pages dedicated to the Aloe Vera plant with some attempts at getting the construction right, final result being the 3rd page, left side plant.

There are also 2 pages of an attempted Baobab tree.

Thank you for the feedback!

May I just confirm the priority of drawing ellipses inside planes when constructing cylinders in boxes?

1) The ellipse must be drawn in a way that the minor axis would split it into 2 identical forms.

2) The ellipse should touch each of the 4 sizes of the plane.

3) The ellipse should fit inside the plane.

And...done! A mixture of free-floating cylinders and cylinders in boxes. Fineliners vary from page to page.

Oh, for some reason I thought you only meant for lesson 1 exercises to be used for warm-ups ^^' thanks for clarifying.

LairaKlock in the post "Lesson 2: Organic Forms, Contour Lines, Dissections and Form Intersections"

Thank you for the critique. Would looking into 3rd party examples of form intersections and organic intersections help with the last concepts?

I'll probably repeat this batch of exercises some time in the near future. Maybe come back to them sooner if the upcoming lessons will show a lack of understanding from my side.

Some notes:

There's an extra page of contour lines (3 total instead of 2), hope it's ok.

For the form intersection, I haven't included my first actual try at it, since somewhere in the middle I panicked, started running around the page and making stupid decisions. It's still 4 pages.
