Okay so I've been through quite a bit of posts and I can't seem to find the answer here, so I'm just making my own:

Spend as much time drawing for fun as you do studying. Fine, good by me. However, I have things I need to/want to get done drawing-wise in a timely manner that are not related to studying. Can I draw what I want MORE than 50% of my time? Or do I need to keep the ratio as close as possible?

Yes, you can do more.

I'm not an expert but I assumed the 50% rule was designed to force you to freestyle more than just procedurally trying to study over and over and over, so that you get those sparks of imagination and discover how the lessons may apply to your own style or goals. Maybe I assumed wrong though
