Greetings everyone,

I'm recovering from an operation that was performed on my ears and as a result I have trouble looking down on a sheet of paper for extended periods of time (don't worry, it's been a bit over a week and as long as I don't look down for hours or swing my head around like crazy I'm fine :] ).

I have a Wacom Intuos Pro lying around here, do you think it makes sense to follow the lessons with a screenless drawing tablet? I'll try to get a bit of practice in with the trusted Staedtler 0.5 every day, but truth be told I'm having trouble looking down for more than an hour a day.

According to my Doctor it'll take 3-4 weeks until I'm back to normal, would doing the exercises with an Intuos be a waste of time? I know that this question has been asked a few times already and the answer is always a "It would be better if you follow along with the recommended tools, they were chosen for a reason!" but given my situation it's essentially doing it digitally or not at all.

If I do them digitally for the time being, which ones should I definitely revisit traditionally once I'm well again?

I'm thankful for any insight and tips! :)

All things considered, I think it might be a better use of your time to hold off on Drawabox until you are well again. Til then, I'd recommend playing around with your tablet, and just having fun with it, rather than stressing over learning the fundamentals of drawing when you're not able to give it your all.

Hello Uncomfortable, thank you for the reply!

We actually talked about this topic on the drawabox Discord yesterday and we came to the same conclusion, don't push too hard and maybe just draw for a bit every day just for fun.

The problem is that I have quite a bit of free time on my hands now and wouldn't want all of it to be wasted, especially as the days go by and I'm recovering more and more I'll probably be able to do mentally challenging tasks faster than I'll be able to look down for hours on end. I'm thinking about just relaxing for the time being and then starting with drawabox again in a week or so.

If I did do a few exercises for 1-2 hours a day on my tablet, which ones do you think are the ones I absolutely should revisit traditionally 100% without question?

Unfortunately I don't think I can give you the kind of answer you're looking for, as doing so would undermine the reasoning behind how the course has been set up. It really isn't just a smattering of exercises presented together - all of the exercises work together to build towards a limited set of core goals.

So- feel free to use the material that's available as you see fit, but my recommendation is still that you go through the whole thing as recommended, when you're able.
