A lot of my favorite art is digital paintings that replicate oil and watercolor. Is it considered acceptable to spend "fun" drawing time painting whether traditionally(for me I am interested in oil painting, or digitally?

I do actually address this as the second FAQ question, here. Short answer is yeah, you're welcome to use whatever tools you're interested in using, be it traditional paints, digital software, or anything else.
