Uncomfortable

So many of you may notice that I'm not particularly big on recording myself drawing with a camera. I've done plenty of videos using screen capture (not a fan of speaking during them, but I have done so for the intro videos from lessons 3-7). When it comes to actually recording myself drawing on paper though, I never bothered set myself up with the appropriate hardware to do so. Not because I can't, but because I personally never had the desire to.

Some people, however, do! I've recently come across a twitch streamer named NotoriousWhiteRabbit who's started streaming her progress from lesson 1 onward (as I write this, she's currently streaming some lesson 2 work). Lots of people who do the work will skip through a lot of the instructions, but from what I've seen she's pretty good about paying close attention, and as a result is a pretty good example of how to approach this stuff so far.

Another important thing she does is owning her mistakes. Everyone who goes through this material will find plenty of areas of difficulty, and will struggle a lot. I often talk about how important failure is, and how one must accept that it's both an inevitable and an integral part of growth. Watching someone else blunder around at times, but continue to push onwards can help come to terms with that.

So, if you're looking for something like that, give her channel a watch (and give a hello from /r/ArtFundamentals!). She's also got her previous videos saved there. Additionally, if you guys know of anyone streaming their drawabox work (or are doing so yourself), feel free to post a link in the comments.

Thanks.

Realizing how others struggle helps a lot. You realize you arent the only one, you get a better sense that the progress is normal or how long it may take, and that youre not a complete screw up. Its one thing to read it, but seeing someone go through with it is different.

It's definitely something that is difficult to really grasp until you see someone else fumbling around and making mistakes themselves, but continuing to push on through.

Hahaha. Well, let me know if you end up making some videos. I'm going to be replacing the FAQ sticky with one that lists community resources (like the faq, active twitch streamers and youtube channels who do drawabox and the discord server). I'd be happy to include you, when you've got some drawabox content.
