The flow is much better in this one than the previous. I love the humor in it. And you're right can't build a house without a good foundation.

Thanks! I definitely took some time to avoid certain pitfalls in terms of flow. The first row was a huge challenge, due to all the text. Technically the first bubble still gets missed, but I think it was a necessary sacrifice.

True I don't see a way you could avoid that it was a necessary sacrifice. And just wanted to thank you again for this subreddit, the page and all the work you put into this.

I love getting advice in comic form. I'm new to this sub and draw a box (I've been at it a couple of weeks) and I have to say thank you! The way you explain things just works for me with or without comics. I'm looking forward to more from you.

Thanks! And best of luck pushing through the lessons.

That bottom panel...."All hail our dark master, Lord of Boxes!"

All boxes must be sacrificed to me upon an altar of stone on a cloudless night beneath the light of a full moon.

I hope you continue to pound these out, they're hilarious. I do hope for a mixture of motivation and some that focus on breaking down how each lesson works. Having some that explain why you do them and how they help is great to keep you on a path for improvement, and having some that explains the more technical aspects of various techniques will help people climb hurdles when they get to them. Amazing work!

The plan is to largely focus on common misconceptions or concerns people have (like how this one tackled the idea that you can do the first two lessons and just stop the exercises thereafter), as well as on overarching concepts - the value and rationale behind constructional drawing, the different phases of learning how to apply texture, etc. That said, I have no intention of getting overly technical, at least in situations where it requires me to cover the entire thing with text.

All in all, you do each lesson (3-7) for the same reasons - they tackle the same problem, but in different contexts and from different angles. I suppose I could possibly get a comic out of that, but it's not quite what you mentioned, in that there's no individual goal for each lesson to discuss separately.

Anyway, I'm glad you like them, and I do hope to continue with them for some time - although sporadically and spaced out over time.

If i don't do some warmups my hands feels "rusty", so i've been doing one or two sheets of lines and ellipses everyday before doing the lessons :) and again a great comic, this time the flow was much better!

If a box a day keeps the demon away, why does he get stronger with each box??

Uncomfortable

2016-06-19 20:51

Each box is an offering, of course! As long as you make your offerings regularly and on time, there's no reason for the demon to come for you. It's a lot like a debt collector, except for boxes.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone do an evil hand clasp with their pinkie before.

Mark this moment, for it shall never happen again! Cause it looks kinda dumb.

Lol. I haven't posted in forever but I've been practicing various things every night for months now. I really need to finish that last hw assignment but even to this day, my ellipses eat at least 7 dicks. Way down from like 35 dicks but still kinda poopy.

Uncomfortable

2016-06-23 16:30

Of course they do! They're going to eat so many dicks, for a long time. Everything will. But you can't just grind at them until they're perfect, you've got to move forwards while continuing to work on them a little bit each day.

I feel like I'm taking the Jiro dreams of sushi angle to the same extreme he does which had its pluses and minuses. But at the end of the day, you're absolutely right. I'm going to finish off my assignment tonight and submit it.

Btw if you've never seen Jiro, I highly recommend it.

Your lessons have motivated me to draw more.

O box god, please bless my boxes!

I just wanted to share this here. I remember finding this here a year ago, but I'm not sure if you or some other user posted it. It's an album with two warm-up sheets. The first focuses on superimposing, and the other focuses on ellipses.

I finish one sheet at the start of each drawing session, then I make a box or an arrow/ribbon on the back.

/u/tsak021 posted them here about a year ago. Looks like a good time to bubble them back up to the surface.

I feel like this is exactly what I needed! I get stuck into the fundamentals so much that I never get anything else done. I literally have a sketch book full of boxes
