I think it's good for people to actually do little studies like these, not just to look at this picture and think about it. The more textural information you have in your drawing repertoire the better. If you see something in a photo with a unique texture, try to render it out in a drawing.
It isn't easy, but it's all about learning how to control the amount of pressure you exert on the pen. A 0.5mm tip can create an astounding range of line widths once you've learned to control it properly. I'm a bit rusty, but here's a similar texture drawn on a post-it note

A lot of texture are extremely hard to execute with the pignment liner,since dont allow so much about line variation,shade etc
