Uncomfortable

I'm going to keep this short. Reddit has recently been announcing its changes to its API pricing, and it's not good. You can read more about that here where the developer of the Apollo Reddit Client has explained it all in great detail. At its core, Reddit is making it untenable for third party applications, which play an incredibly important role not only in making the use of this platform vastly more user friendly than what their first party apps have been able to achieve, but also in adding critical accessibility features.

Here's a brief quote from the link above:

with my current usage would cost almost $2 million dollars per month, or over $20 million per year.

While we aren't going to be joining the reddit blackout on June 12th (mostly due to logistical problems), I wanted to ensure that our community is aware of this issue. Read up on it, and consider avoiding Reddit on June 12th to 14th if you disagree with the changes Reddit is making.

As a side note, Apollo is developed in our home town, and on top of providing a means to access this platform that really improves the experience, they're also very important to our local community. For years now, they've run fundraisers for our local SPCA, amounting in tens of thousands of dollars each year to go towards helping get animals adopted out to loving homes.

Seeing a fantastic app that does a lot of good get taken out like this makes me very mad. Hopefully it makes you mad too.

Words mean little without action. Please reconsider joining the blackout.

Why isn't the community joining the blackout? Please check r/blind to see how these changes affect the community. It is also extremely unfair to mods who wish to use mod tools.

Yup. Disabled people matter.

I'm not blind, but I don't have to be to agree to accommodations that help them.

I am pretty sure it means that when we upload our assignments to the Drawabox website to get them reviewed, you can have the option to upload them on Reddit as well, so by going private this feature may give some issues. Still, this was an extremely warm approach to this issue. I do not mind at all if my assignments do not get posted here for a while (they do not get reviewed anyway hah)
