Do I have to complete the entire box challenge before I look at Lesson 2?
Completing the whole box challenge - which certainly can take a long time - is indeed something we recommend (or in the purposes of pursuing official critique, require), though I completely understand why students might feel this is a very daunting task. But, as discussed in this section, that is a big part of why we engage in this challenge at all - to develop students' discipline, and to allow them to show themselves that even when a task is large and overwhelming, it can be broken down into pieces and tackled a bit at a time.
Of course, I can see this being a problem if you're only ever engaging in study (and not adhering to the requirements of the 50% rule), but then you would already be deviating pretty severely from how this course should be taken. Drawabox is not something you're going to grind and tough your way through. It is a process that involves patience, repetition, discipline, and above all else, a gradual rewiring of the way in which your brain engages with drawing as a whole on multiple levels. No matter how eager you may be to get on with it, it is a process that takes time, so allowing yourself to develop the capacity to bear with it will help make the process as a whole smoother and less frustrating as a whole.
