This is where the message goes!

Having trouble coming up with something to draw? No worries - while you'll eventually learn how to start from a tiny seed of a thought and gradually nurture it into a complex concept to explore through design and illustration, it's perfectly fine not to be there just yet.

For now though, here's an idea that might interest you.

Alien Red Light District

Picture the seediest corner of an alien world, and design it. Think about architecture, atmosphere, lighting. Humanoids are fine, but no humans. Doesn't have to be high-tech! Think about more than just the exposed skin - consider how they're going to be marketed (billboards, holograms, large displays, etc), what the clientele would look like, and even how well maintained it would all be.

Faber Castell PITT Artist Pens

Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.

Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
