Hello would just like to say, I have drew some extra boxes accidentally, and from boxes 50 to 100 I also put down vanishing point marks,(after drawing the boxes with just the edges as told by uncomfortable), because I thought we were supposed to, in order to aid the reviewers from feedback, but I realised after rewatching the video, I don't do that mistake from 103 and above. Thank you.

For the first 50, your lines are clean overall. However, I did see some wobbling throughout the set. I also saw some lines that appeared to be redrawn, like in box 10 and box 41. Your convergences also show good accuracy, though I did see some lines pair off and converge towards two vanishing points, like box 11's blue lines, box 29's blue lines, and box 50's pink lines.

For the next 50, your lines show improvement. While some wobbling is still present, most instances are fairly light. However, I did see a few more redrawn lines, like in box 60 and box 88. Your convergences also show improvement in accuracy, though there are a few more instances of lines pairing off, like box 53's green lines, box 77's pink lines, and box 99's red lines.

For the last 150, your lines continue to improve, with wobbling furthere reduced. However, since it was present throughout the challenge, I do recommend reviewing the information in this section to ensure that you're practicing the proper technique. I also saw more lines that appear to be redrawn, like box 111 and box 191. Remember that, for this challenge, it's better to have one smooth, confident line than to try to fix it by redrawing.

Your convergences also continue to improve, though there are still instances of lines pairing off, like in box 109's pink lines, box 170's red lines, and box 239's blue lines. In these boxes, the inner lines (green and orange in this diagram) diverge instead of converging at the vanishing point. Keeping in mind the angles of neighboring lines can help when planning the box's construction.

As an aside, box 136 appears to be missing some line extensions. It's not an issue since it only happened once, but I want to point it out for future reference.

All said, you did well. I'm going to mark this challenge as complete.

Next Steps:

Continue on to Lesson 2, and add rotated boxes with line extensions in the style of the last 150 to your warm-up exercise pool.

This critique marks this lesson as complete.

I will do my best! Thank you so much!

This section is reserved for low-cost advertising space for art related indie projects.
With how saturated the market is, it is tough for such projects to get eyes on their work.
By providing this section, we hope to help with that.

Michael Hampton's Gesture Course

Michael Hampton's Gesture Course

Michael Hampton is one of my favourite figure drawing teachers, specifically because of how he approaches things from a basis of structure, which as you have probably noted from Drawabox, is a big priority for me. Gesture however is the opposite of structure however - they both exist at opposite ends of a spectrum, where structure promotes solidity and structure (and can on its own result in stiffness and rigidity), gesture focuses on motion and fluidity, which can result in things that are ephemeral, not quite feeling solid and stable.

With structure and spatial reasoning in his very bones, he still provides an excellent exploration of gesture, but in a visual language in something that we here appreciate greatly, and that's not something you can find everywhere.
