Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes

Hello, here we go for the first lesson homework. Thank you
Hello, Alexis!! Congratulations on completing lesson 1 of DrawABox. I'll be critiquing your homework per section.
Lines
Superimposed lines are pretty good. Some of your lines have fraying on both ends. (https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/8/fraying) In order to avoid this, you should place the pen carefully at the starting point of each line. Though, I can see most of the lines maintain a consistent trajectory. You should also draw a variety of lines, for the second page you've done mostly short lines. Making long ones will develop your "drawing from shoulder" skills. Ghosted lines are good, in some instances there is a bit of a bend in attempt to hit both points but overall you've done a good job. Ghosted planes are good. If you aren't doing so already, plot the beginning and end points of your lines to practice the ghosting method. This will help prevent undershooting/overshooting of lines.
Ellipses
Ellipses in planes are good. The ellipses are round in shape and have been drawn through. However, your ellipses in table exercise is lacking. The ellipses aren't fit snugly in the boxes, there are some gaps. You've also drawn through the ellipses around 3-5 times, the recommended amount is two. Funnels are okay. The minor axis cuts the ellipses into two symmetrical halves. Although the corner ones are wrong. They are lacking a minor axis that cuts the ellipses in half, you drew 3 sets of identical ellipses instead. Good attempt though.
Boxes
Plotted Perspective is good, no comments. Rough perspective is decent. Line quality could use some work. I can see that you've repeated some of your lines, no matter how off a line is, you should never repeat it. Although, I see some improvements on the second page. Your rotated boxes exercise is a decent attempt. The boxes don't rotate enough and some aren't drawn through. Your line quality is also a bit subpar, but this is a pretty challenging exercise. Organic perspective is a decent attempt. On your first page it doesn't really convey the illusion but I see you've made improvements on the second page. Linework is also improved on the second page so good job on that. There are some issues with perspective, but those will be fixed in the 250 box challenge. You may have rushed on these last pages of exercises, your linework isn't the best.
Overall, I think you just need to work on your line quality. I recommend for you to do another page of tables of ellipses and maybe a page of ghosted lines. Towards the end, your line quality in the exercises decreased. Once you've done them, reply here and I'll take a look.
Next Steps:
One page of tables of ellipses and one page of ghosted lines
Hello, at first thank you very much for your reply i appreciate it.
And here is my revisions : https://imgur.com/a/eb23XQ5
thank you.
Hello! Thank you for doing the revisions. Your ghosted lines look pretty good. Lines are straight and clean. Tables of ellipses also look much better, ellipses are snugly fit in the boxes and have been drawn through properly. Good job!
I'll go ahead and mark this as complete, good luck with your 250 boxes :)
Next Steps:
250 box challenge
Ok thanks
A lot of my students use these. The last time I used them was when I was in high school, and at the time I felt that they dried out pretty quickly, though I may have simply been mishandling them. As with all pens, make sure you're capping them when they're not in use, and try not to apply too much pressure. You really only need to be touching the page, not mashing your pen into it.
In terms of line weight, the sizes are pretty weird. 08 corresponds to 0.5mm, which is what I recommend for the drawabox lessons, whereas 05 corresponds to 0.45mm, which is pretty close and can also be used.
