Struggling with accuracy

Hi, I’m about 25 boxes in and am really struggling to get all my lines to converge. How can I figure out where I’m going wrong and correct my mistakes? Thanks!

If you're only 25 boxes into the 250 box challenge, then nothing seems to be out of place. You're expected to struggle with it. The process of drawing boxes and applying the line extensions to analyze where their convergences are off, so as to adjust your approach, where you're focusing your time and attention, and so forth, is something that happens slowly and steadily. It is also not something you're going to have mastered by the end of the challenge, but rather something that will have improved over its course, enough to continue moving forwards through the later lessons where your spatial reasoning skills are further developed.
Don't fall into the trap of trying to measure your growth day to day, or even week to week, nor into the trap of trying to set expectations for yourself. Focus on following the instructions of the exercise as closely as you can, and be attentive to the choices you're making throughout that process, and you will improve.
Of course, if you'd like eyes on your work to make sure you are approaching it all correctly, you can make use of the #basic-challenges channel on our discord chat server.
Ahhhh thank you so much, I’d definitely fallen into the trap of expecting improvement too soon. That makes a lot of sense, thanks :)
Hi! I'm in the same place as you, so hopefully there will be more valuable insights. As I make each box, I feel a little bit of the gear turning in my brain, so being patient and just doing the assignment is a start.
I'm experimenting with ghosting my lines in different ways: first I was just moving my arm back and forth, and now I try no line my two points with my eye and ghost the line moving it towards me.
Not that it's the answer to your issue, but it could be a light for something for you to try out. GL!
Thanks so much! It’s nice to hear it’s not just me. And definitely something I’ll try!
A lot of my students use these. The last time I used them was when I was in high school, and at the time I felt that they dried out pretty quickly, though I may have simply been mishandling them. As with all pens, make sure you're capping them when they're not in use, and try not to apply too much pressure. You really only need to be touching the page, not mashing your pen into it.
On the flipside, they tend to be on the cheaper side of things, so if you're just getting started (beginners tend to have poor pressure control), you're probably going to destroy a few pens - going cheaper in that case is not a bad idea.
In terms of line weight, the sizes are pretty weird. 08 corresponds to 0.5mm, which is what I recommend for the drawabox lessons, whereas 05 corresponds to 0.45mm, which is pretty close and can also be used.
