Hello, and congrats on completing Lesson 2. It seems like this submission has been up for a while!

That being said, I will be doing my best to critique your work.

Your Organic arrows have good line confidence and hatching. However, the arrows don't seem to be compressing as the arrow goes further into 3d space: https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/0f7c806c.jpg

The contours and ellipses on your Organic Forms have similar, unchanging degrees. The degrees of the ellipses will change depending on the viewer's postion: https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/6822fd02.jpg

There are also 3 main variations of sausages to practice: curved away from the viewer, curved towards the viewer, and one end of the sausage facing the viewer: https://imgur.com/a/AhXrGTi

The ellipses are aligned with the minor axis and fit into the sausage nicely, great work. The contour lines are "hooked" properly as well.

Texture Analysis is well done. Good cast shadows, no hatching to show gradients, just black and white.

For Dissections, I see that many issues you had were acknowledged, like not wrapping the texture around the form (the octopus texture did have good cast shadows however).

This part is definitely the hardest one in this lesson (in my opinion), so don't be discouraged if you made mistakes here. I can't say much on this part because I had many issues here as well.

For Form Intersections, the main purpose was to make it seem the objects are in the same space, by having them not be too dramaticaly foreshortened or elongated in one direction. Don't worry if you feel that your intersections are not correct, as this was just an introduction to them.

If you would like to know more about different types of intersections, here is a good resource for understanding how different shapes interact: https://imgur.com/a/6Inx5Bz

I do think that the boxes in this exercise could use more variation. The angles in between the initial "Y" will always be more than 90 degrees, so understanding where the limits are can allow you to experiment more without worrying about distorting your boxes. You may use this resource to get an idea of how to draw your box, although make sure all boxes are drawn from imagination: https://imgur.com/Kqg6uMX

Finally, Organic Intersections. Make sure to draw a cast shadow to indicate that the whole intersection is on some solid ground. Regarding cast shadows, I see that some shadows are sticking to the form that casts it rather than wrapping around the object it is cast onto: https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/516f8d4f.jpg

The sausages are not drawn through and disappear when going behind other sausages. Be sure to draw through all forms. Adding a minor axis to the sausages like you did in Organic forms can help.

Overall, there were no major issues with your submission. Just some minor, common mistakes that can be fixed easily, and should be kept in mind.

Looking at your work, I think you are ready for Lesson 3. Well done!

hey jenes. Im sorry i have missed your in depth critic. This is so valuable and thank you so much for pointing it out. I agree. Most hardest for me was the form intersection rather than the texture one. Thank you for referencing those images about intersection. I will practice that because it seems like that is very important as real world objects are combination of intersection anyways.

I'd also like to thank you for taking your time and providing critics on my work. I genuienly appreciate it.

I'd move on but im still practicing older lessons. Such as boxes and sausages.

When i was drawing sausage i did not intentionally made them in 3 views like you said. Bending away, towards etc. i'll be doing that now.

Lastly Thank you once again and Happy new year :D

Staedtler Pigment Liners

These are what I use when doing these exercises. They usually run somewhere in the middle of the price/quality range, and are often sold in sets of different line weights - remember that for the Drawabox lessons, we only really use the 0.5s, so try and find sets that sell only one size.

Alternatively, if at all possible, going to an art supply store and buying the pens in person is often better because they'll generally sell them individually and allow you to test them out before you buy (to weed out any duds).
