Hello!

this is my complete submission. I also submitted only partially, but I unfortunately don't know how to delete that ????

I'm not really satisfied with how the boxes turned out, but I am not sure if I should repeat an earlier lesson again or if I should move on to the 250 box challenge.

The feedback is very appreciated!

Thank you in advance :)

Hi there, and welcome to Drawabox! I hope you're excited for what's coming next. Here are my observations:

Lines:

You skipped an essential step in your superimposed lines exercise: you should first draw a straight line with a straight edge and then go over it freehand - that way you'll know how much you're diverting from the straight line. And as it is now your lines in this exercise arc a lot. Same for some of your ghosted lines. If you're confident you're fully using your shoulder for these, then the way to reduce this arcing is to try to arc the other way until your lines are straight.

Ellipses:

You've done a good job with these. At times in your funnels the ellipses are misaligned from the center line (not exactly perpendicular with the latter) but it's fairly rare.

Boxes:

Decent job with these. Your aren't supposed to be flawless at this stage (that's what the next challenge is for) but you've done pretty well. Your rotated boxes are fairly flawed (the whole obviously isn't symmetrical) and your organic boxes often diverge instead of converging to their vanishing points, but again, that's for later.

In conclusion I think you should have another go at the superimposed lines exercise, this time drawing the initial straight line. After I think you should be ready for the 250 box challenge.

Another thing to keep in mind: you're only allowed to use a black 0.5 fineliner from now on, as that's the tool that this course should be done with.

Next Steps:

1 page of the Superimposed Lines exercise.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Thank you very much for taking the time to critique my homework!

I am surprised that I managed to skip the step, but I did it correctly this time.

I was struggling with the long line at first, so I did a few more on the second page and think they turned out better.

I used usually the ballpoint or 0.4 fineliner that I had at home, but I got a 0.5 one now!

Thank you again!

Great! You're getting a hang on drawing lines and with that I'll be marking this lesson as complete. Next step: the 250 Box challenge. Good luck!

How to Draw by Scott Robertson

When it comes to technical drawing, there's no one better than Scott Robertson. I regularly use this book as a reference when eyeballing my perspective just won't cut it anymore. Need to figure out exactly how to rotate an object in 3D space? How to project a shape in perspective? Look no further.
