I’ll give you a quick one, then!

Lines are good, though I’d have liked to see some more variety. The superimposed lines are too short, though the instructions recommend going up to full-page width. The ghosted ones, on the other hand, are too long. Going for the extreme is a bad way to practice. Also, automatic reinforcing is bad!

Ellipses are okay, though I wish you were a little more consistent in the number of times you go around them- sometimes it’s too little, sometimes it's too much. 2-3 times is recommended, ideally 2. Also, spend a little more time ghosting the thinner ones.

The rough perspective exercise looks good, but the first page is missing correction lines. Also, be a tiny bit more patient with your lines in that exercise. Really, regardless of the big picture, all it is is a line from point A to point B. The final 2 exercises look good, though there’s some weird straight lines on your organic perspective (what’s up that?)

Now, normally, I’d required some redos here, but I’m going to assume that you haven’t been neglecting your warmups, and as such, all of the issues I raised are not issues any longer. I’ll hold off on marking this as complete until you tell me that that is the case~

HOLY CRAP THANK YOU FOR THE QUICK REVIEW!!!!! HOLY HECK I LOVE DRAWABOX!!!!!!! CRITIQUES ARE DAMN AMAZING!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!

...ok i'm done being weird

Just did a warm-up on some Lesson 1 exercises and now I know what to include more of in my future warm-ups, which are super-imposed lines, thin ellipses, and elipses in plains. I've mostly done just ellipses for my warm-ups so this is a good wake-up call, I definitely need to work on my super-imposed lines as I have trouble with adding lineweight.

Also wow yeah in my warm-up just now I realized that I'm a little lacking on patience I sometimes just ghost once or twice then move on. I'll definitely keep this in mind! I'll be more patient as you've advised, and avoid automatic reinforcing!

Here are more of my stuff for you to decide whether my Lesson 1 can be marked off as complete:

Looks good~ See if you can be a tiny bit more patient with your funnels, though. The minor axis (which should be drawn with a ruler, by the way), needs to cut them into two equal, symmetrical halves. Anyway, off with you! xD

Color and Light by James Gurney

Color and Light by James Gurney

Some of you may remember James Gurney's breathtaking work in the Dinotopia series. This is easily my favourite book on the topic of colour and light, and comes highly recommended by any artist worth their salt. While it speaks from the perspective of a traditional painter, the information in this book is invaluable for work in any medium.
