Is it okay to move on to the next step even without critique?

Hello! I was wondering, can I move onto the next step/lesson/challenge even without getting any critique even after a while of posting it? I submit all my homeworks here in the community, and since I don't really know when I'll get a critique, I was wondering if I could move on to the next step.

I completed the 250 boxes challenge after doing lesson 1 (without critique) and I did my revisions and I've noticed my boxes improved after doing the challenge for my revision of the rotated boxes. I was wondering if it was okay for me to do that? since I gained experience and knowledge for doing the challenge. I'm on lesson 2 now, and in the revision critique, I was told to do the 250 boxes challenge next, But I have already completed that and I have decided to move onto lesson 2.

Thank you!

I’d say you’re totally good!!! The best you can do is post here, you can’t control how fast someone reply’s, like if the response activity isn’t consistent, or it takes a while, I really see no harm in continuing while you wait, I mean you’ll still eventually get a response! So maybe if you’re REALLY unsure of something you can wait, but it might be a waste of time doing so, When you could be making progress in the meantime!

Hope this helps!! :D

I would add that if you are not asking for official critiques you are free to do anything you want. I don't recommend it, but you could jump around the lessons or move at any pace you wish.

I think if you really want a critique, you might wish to limit it to a few pictures that you really want feedback on. I find people have a lot of success getting responses from the community on specific questions.

Hey, Thanks for the reply! You're totally right, I'll keep your advice in mind for future lessons. :)

Color and Light by James Gurney

Color and Light by James Gurney

Some of you may remember James Gurney's breathtaking work in the Dinotopia series. This is easily my favourite book on the topic of colour and light, and comes highly recommended by any artist worth their salt. While it speaks from the perspective of a traditional painter, the information in this book is invaluable for work in any medium.
