Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes

My attempts are nowhere near perfect, but I tried. Any and all critiquing is much appreciated!
Good job on completing the lesson and understanding all of the assignments!
Your lines are looking good for the most part! Your lines don't wobble too much so keep executing them with confidence and using your whole arm. I will point out that your superimposed lines do go off their trajectory quite a bit, but this will improve with practice.
You are also doing a good job on the eclipses! They look clean and confident for the most part. The only thing I will point out is that your lines wobble sometimes when you get to the lower part of the eclipse. As long as you keep drawing with your whole arm and be confident all the way through, this will improve.
Finally, you made quite a bit of mistakes in the perspective of boxes. Some lines are diverging instead of converging towards a vanishing point. Don't worry, everybody messes up in this part of the lesson. I can assure you that with the 250 box challenge you will see the mistakes you were doing and you will improve.
Overall you did good work. Do the 250 box challenge and then move on to lesson 2. Remember to do warmups.
Next Steps:
Do 250 box challenge
Make sure to include superimposed lines excercise to warmups.
Thank you so much! I'll be sure to take these recommendations and use them as best I can.
Hi,
Nice work i guess.
Your ellipses are a bit wobbly. Maybe you could integrate the table of ellipses in your general warmup. Try to vary the speed (a bit faster, a bit slower) to see what you gain or loose in accuracy and confidency.
It seems fine to me anyway, let's see how you can learn from the 250 boxes challenge!

Good luck for the following!
Thank you! Yep, ellipses proved to be much more difficult for me than I was expecting. I will most definitely take your suggested next step, experimenting with the speed is a very useful tip.
These are what I use when doing these exercises. They usually run somewhere in the middle of the price/quality range, and are often sold in sets of different line weights - remember that for the Drawabox lessons, we only really use the 0.5s, so try and find sets that sell only one size.
Alternatively, if at all possible, going to an art supply store and buying the pens in person is often better because they'll generally sell them individually and allow you to test them out before you buy (to weed out any duds).
