Sorry for all the ink smudges, I didn't get a fine line pen until the Rough Perspective exercise but I still smudged the ink at some parts because my hand drags along the paper when I draw. I'd really appreciate some feedback and tsym in advance.

Hey! I'll be reviewing the work!

Lines

  • The lines are arched in some of the work. Specifically ghosting lines and planes, this is a problem because you aren't using your shoulder to draw which is shown in Lesson 0. Drawing with your wrist or elbow might make noticeable arcs and makes them less confidence. Look through this specific lesson https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/2/video

Ellipses

  • The ellipses aren't confident, just like your lines, you have to draw with your shoulder.

  • Both the Ghosted Planes with Ellipse and Ellipse Table have Ellipses outside the boundaries and not touching it.

  • The funnels aren't alligned symmetrically with the ellipses.

Boxes

  • There should be some crosshatching on the rotated boxes exercise.

That's all!

Next Steps:

Draw 1 page of ghosted lines using your shoulder. Also, don't be afraid to do different rotations because it helps with the 250 Box Challenge. The lines can intersect with each other too.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

PureRef

PureRef

This is another one of those things that aren't sold through Amazon, so I don't get a commission on it - but it's just too good to leave out. PureRef is a fantastic piece of software that is both Windows and Mac compatible. It's used for collecting reference and compiling them into a moodboard. You can move them around freely, have them automatically arranged, zoom in/out and even scale/flip/rotate images as you please. If needed, you can also add little text notes.

When starting on a project, I'll often open it up and start dragging reference images off the internet onto the board. When I'm done, I'll save out a '.pur' file, which embeds all the images. They can get pretty big, but are way more convenient than hauling around folders full of separate images.

Did I mention you can get it for free? The developer allows you to pay whatever amount you want for it. They recommend $5, but they'll allow you to take it for nothing. Really though, with software this versatile and polished, you really should throw them a few bucks if you pick it up. It's more than worth it.
