Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes

apologies if some of the papers are a bit dirty
Congratulations on completing Lesson 1!
Lines
Your lines are very confident.
Ellipses
Nicely done as well. Would like to point out that in the funnels section, some of the ellipses are skewed (the minor axis should split and ellipse in half), and some of them are too far away from eachother. Make sure not to rush and take your time.
Boxes
In rotated boxes section the top and bottom corner boxes don’t really rotate. Make sure you keep the edges of neighburing boxes close and almost parallel, which should help you position the new box. Also some of the boxes are missing one or more faces, and some of the lines have been drawn over more than once (also happens in rough perspective part).
Your rough perspective is, in my opinion, your poorest effort. You should try and keep the side of the box facing the viewer parallel to the horizon. You also missed a crucial part of the exercise which is extending the lines (with a different colour pen) to the horizon line to assess how far off you were in your estimations.
Good job overall, but needs some more work.
Next Steps:
In the rough perspective section you need to extend the lines back to the horizon with a different colour pen. See rough perspective exercise for more directions.
Here we're getting into the subjective - Gerald Brom is one of my favourite artists (and a pretty fantastic novelist!). That said, if I recommended art books just for the beautiful images contained therein, my list of recommendations would be miles long.
The reason this book is close to my heart is because of its introduction, where Brom goes explains in detail just how he went from being an army brat to one of the most highly respected dark fantasy artists in the world today. I believe that one's work is flavoured by their life's experiences, and discovering the roots from which other artists hail can help give one perspective on their own beginnings, and perhaps their eventual destination as well.
