Hello! This is Doctormein and i'll be critiquing your work for today.

Lines.

Superimposed lines

First thing that i saw present in your line is Wobbliness. Always remind yourself that a confident / well executed lines that are inaccurate are better than wobbly stroke that is in the right place. Remember to fix this a lot while doing the exercise, They'll play a major role in 250 boxes exercise. (A little tidbits is that practice this exercise with s or c curve often too, Since this will comes into play a ton in Lesson 2 and onward.)

Ghosted lines.

Your ghosted line looks pretty great! There's not much wobbling and arcing lines plus you are also not overshooting or undershooting the line. Well done.

Ghosted planes

In this exercise you mainly nailed it, But there's some ghosted planes that aren't actually having enough lines --> Like this it should instead be more like this i think you forgot to actually add them while doing the exercise. But i don't think this would be a very big deal, Since you already got the main concept of the exercise down. But remember that when doing the exercise don't try to skip any steps at all. Carefully read the instruction and follow it religiously, Otherwise you wouldn't get as much as you would out of the lesson themselves.

Ellipses.

Table of ellipses.

Your table of ellipses actually looks pretty great. Your ellipses are being drawn confidently, And as far as i am concerned it seems to also be drawn 2-3 times plus you kept things in boundaries as well. Nicely done.

Ellipses in plane

Another job well done. Your ellipses are confidently drawn with no deformed nor floating ellipses. Plus you're going them 2-3 times as requested. While accuracy could be improved i think it's a matter of practice rather than misunderstanding the exercise.

Funnels.

This exercise needs a bit of helping hands. Remember that when you're drawing every ellipses for the course. You should always be drawing through them 2-3 times, No more no less. And while this is optional i think it would be great if you try to practice degree change of those exercise Here since this will certainly comes into play for Lesson 2 and so on. (Speaking from experience.)

Boxes.

Plotted perspective.

You have only one box which seem to be a bit close toward distortion This but that's pretty much it. well done.

Rough perspective.

First thing i can point out to you is that You extend your lines a bit too long. Do it instead like this secondly You have quite a few of lines that are being repeated. No matter how inaccurate , wrong or incorrect a line is. Leave the line as it is, Don't repeat them. and finally Always remember that the width line is parallel to the horizon while the height will be perpendicular.

Rotated boxes

Your rotated boxes is actually pretty great. only one thing i want you to keep in mind is Some of the boxes aren't rotating. Please refer back to this for more info. since some of your boxes actually look like they have same Vanishing point.

Organic perspective.

  • Critique is not available for this section.

Next Steps:

I'll have you do a bit of resubmission

  • 1 page of funnels

  • 1 page of rough perspective

Remember to keep what i've critiqued in mind.

(For funnels exercise)

Focus on going through them 2-3 times and other things i've mentioned in the critique

(For rough perspective.)

Focusing on not repeating your line and attempting your best to have width line parallel to horizon and height perpendicular to it

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Hello!

I revised and tried to do what you recommended. It's not quite easy.

Thank you for your kindness.

Thank you for bearing with my revision! Lily.

Now lets move on toward critiquing your work

Funnels.

The new funnels looks amazing. You're focusing on going through them only 2-3 times, No more no less. One thing that you could improve is the Alignment of ellipses. But this is a very common mistake students face , And it will get better with time.

Rough perspective.

Your new rough perspective looks a lot better than the previous one. you are following my instruction properly but don't forget Always extend your line only to hit the horizon line

Next Steps:

Although there's quite a few critique here and there.

I think your submission is great, And that you're ready for

250 Boxes challenge.

Don't forget to

  • Put the finished lesson into your warmup routine. (10-15 minute per day before starting drawing anything or drawabox.)

  • Practice on what i've critiqued on

May the box lord have mercy on our souls. Goodluck!

Clip Studio Paint

Clip Studio Paint

I've used a ton of different drawing and painting software over the course of my career, so I can say with confidence that what CSP offers is impressive.

The software is designed around drawing and painting, and it really shows. The brush engine is extremely dynamic, capturing a wide variety of stroke types and effects, making it easy to emulate traditional media if that's what you're after, while still being able to create very polished digital-style graphics.

It also provides a variety of features to make your life easier on a wide variety of projects - from speech bubble and framing tools for comics, to perspective and ellipse guides, to bringing in 3D assets to streamline the production process, to multi-page files, and more. At every turn, it puts the control in your hands, so you can focus on what it is you want to create.
