Hi Waldy,

First off, I saw you accidentally submitted your homework twice (honestly don't know if you can remove one or not). Second, fellow beginner here, so hopefully I can give some good feedback. Overall the exercises look pretty good to me and look like you've put in the effort.

The ghosted lines look pretty good to me, a bit wavy on the longer ones, but that'll surely improve with plenty of line drawing in future exercises.

In the ellipses in planes exercise I saw you sometimes draw through (part of) the ellipses more than 3 times, be careful of that. The exercise states 2 would be ideal (I think it's a confidence thing, but not sure).

I can't tell for sure, but it seems you did not understand the rough perspective exercise completely. The idea is to first draw all the boxes and afterward extend the lines towards the vanishing points. It seems you drew the lines of the boxes all the way towards the vanishing point. I would suggest to do redo the rough perspective exercise and when you extend the lines of your boxes towards the vanishing points to use another color pen.

Next Steps:

I would suggest to do 1 more page of the rough perspective exercise.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Hey Malo,

Thanks for your feedback! For the rough perspective exercise I feel like I did do it correctly, however the lines I drew that extend to the vanishing point aren't very distinguishable to the original marks because the colour difference is subtle. Next time I'll use a bright red pen to communicated this clearly. Seeing as though this isn't the point of the exercise I think I'll continue on.

Also thanks for pointing out the ellipses and particularly that little bit of detail of 2 draw throughs being ideal. I'll keep that in mind for any future related exercises.

Cheers,

Tristan

Hey Tristen,

the lines I drew that extend to the vanishing point aren't very distinguishable to the original marks because the colour difference is subtle

I had that suspicion, I'll go ahead and mark it as complete.

Good luck with the 250 boxes!

Best,

Martijn.

Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.

Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
