Lesson 3: Applying Construction to Plants

I know it said the 4 initial pages without texture, but i really liked practising that part, so i applied it to all of them
Hello again Javonetor, Congratulations on finishing lesson 3. I'll be giving you feedback, pointing out mistakes you've made as well as thing you did good.
Organic arrows
What I said about your lesson 2 arrows still applies. You use smooth lines and proper compression towards the back. You make good use of line thickness. One extra thing you could add is also apply linethickness where different arrows overlap. This applies that the arrows exist in the same space which is an added bonus.
The only point of improvement I mentioned last time was that the shadow lines should go parallel to the connecting line and you've adjusted nicely.
Leaves
It's good to see you've drawn all different leave types and going into detail for every one. The linework again looks nice and smooth.
Your addition of edge detail is generally looking good, however where the leaves have a serrated edge like 1 and 2 you cut the edge out of your construction shape where ideally we work additively as explained here.
When drawing textures we want to draw filled in shapes based on cast shadows rather than single lines like you did on leave 6.
Branches
Plants
Moving on to the plants itself some of the mistakes reappear with regards to texture and drawing textures and ellipses. Your edge details of the leaves do look better though, drawing them more additively rather than subtracting them.
You are doing really well on the proportions. Meaning that the leaves and branches of the plants are properly spaced and the right size.
It's also good to see you trying to draw a plant pot and I encourage you to do this more where possible. The next step is to add some texture to the ground inside the pot. You don't need much but it helps tying the plant and the pot together as well as ground the plant in reality. This also goes for the plants sitting in the ground.
One last small thing I want to mention about the cactus is you've drawn a cylinder/branch shape and rounded the tops. I suggest to draw the branch as you did but then add a half ball on top of that. This would make the construction a bit more convincing.
Overall your drawing skills are improving nicely. While it's good you practice textures never let it be at the expense of the base construction. Make sure the construction of the plant (or insect/animal etc.) is correct and finished before moving on to adding textures.
Next Steps:
When it comes to technical drawing, there's no one better than Scott Robertson. I regularly use this book as a reference when eyeballing my perspective just won't cut it anymore. Need to figure out exactly how to rotate an object in 3D space? How to project a shape in perspective? Look no further.
