Hi I'm znorb and I'm doing your lesson 1 critique:

Starting with lines, in your super imposed lines your lines are fraying in both sides, with both sides I mean this example: https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/1585f266.jpg try to position the pen correctly before doing the line when doing superimposed lines

In ghosted lines your lines there are some arching lines (https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/c0b6ec1a.jpg). Try to arc on the opposite direction of the line, like it says on the part of the arching lines: https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/ghostedlines

I saw your ellipses exercises and you did the steps correctly, something I would see here is that in the ellipses of planes exercise, some ellipses don't touch the points (https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/ellipsesinplanes). In your table of ellipses exercise there are some wobbly ellipses. Remember to ghost the ellipses too like it's said on this image https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/a76a8906.jpg

In the boxes exercises I see some things you can improve, for example the confidence on lines when drawing boxes. In the rough perspective you applied the lines correctly, something I would improve about this exercise is some height line of the boxes aren't perpendicular to the horizon, and some width lines aren't parallel to the horizon line

If you keep doing the concepts as warmups, you will improve after the practice, feel free to move onto the 250 box challenge, good luck with it

Next Steps:

250 Box challenge

Hi znorb,

thank you for your detailed critique! I will keep the aspects in mind and review them when doing the exercises as warmups. This helps a lot.

A lot of my students use these. The last time I used them was when I was in high school, and at the time I felt that they dried out pretty quickly, though I may have simply been mishandling them. As with all pens, make sure you're capping them when they're not in use, and try not to apply too much pressure. You really only need to be touching the page, not mashing your pen into it.

In terms of line weight, the sizes are pretty weird. 08 corresponds to 0.5mm, which is what I recommend for the drawabox lessons, whereas 05 corresponds to 0.45mm, which is pretty close and can also be used.
