Hello! I'm Joxmarf and I will be reviewing your Lesson 1

Superimposed Lines

There's fraying. Remember to place your pen mindfully before doing the stroke.

Ghosted Lines

Well done.

Ghosted Planes and Ellipses

Remember to ghost before doing every single line. Think of the direction of your line. While accuracy is by no means priority, mindfully and confidently doing your stroke will result in more accuracy. Also remember to reread the instructions if you don't remember them very well. Some of your planes have many lines in the wrong directions or not enough lines. Remember, there should be four lines per plane. For ellipses, also remember to ghost. Remember you are trying to fit the ellipse into the plane and make them tight.

Table of Ellipses

Remember to give your ellipses two passes. Also make them tight and ghost before executing them.

Funnels

Well done, but remember to done every ellipse mindfully. Ghost every time.

Plotted Perspective

Your hatching is messy and at times it looks more like scribbles than carefully done lines. Please remember to use the ghostig method for them.

Rough Perspective

Well done.

Rotated boxes

Once again, your lines look a bit messy and rushed. Please use the ghosting method onwards.

Organic Perspective

Do not re-do lines and always remember to complete boxes.

Next Steps:

I will ask two pages of ghosted planes and ellipses. Please apply the feedback I gave you. Good job on your lesson 1!

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

You asked for ghost planes and ellipses didn't you?

Steven Zapata's Secrets of Shading

Steven Zapata's Secrets of Shading

Some of you will have noticed that Drawabox doesn't teach shading at all. Rather, we focus on the understanding of the spatial relationships between the form we're drawing, which feeds into how one might go about applying shading. When it comes time to learn about shading though, you're going to want to learn it from Steven Zapata, hands down.

Take a look at his portfolio, and you'll immediately see why.
