This is my submission for lesson 1. Any feedback would be great.

I would just like to add I struggled on the last two box exercises so I'm jumping straight into the 250 box challenge before moving on to lesson two.

Lines

They are generally good and they improve over the set. But you have only a bit of wobbly lines. Don't forget to prioritize confidence over accuracy.

There's not much fraying at the beginning point of your superimposed lines exercise so good job, just remember that fraying at the end is normal

Just a note for your superimposed lines exercise, you can try adding some superimposed curves in there.

Your lines are arching a bit, so make sure you are using the shoulder pivot. If you are still having difficulty even with the pivot, you can fix it by trying to consciously arch to the opposite direction.

Ellipses

Here as well mainly a good job.

On the ellipse tables, the ellipses should be kept within the bounds, each ellipse touching each other without overllaping.

There is only a little bit of wobbling in the ellipses. Just like with the lines, remember to prioritize confidence over accuracy.

On funnels some of the ellipses arent aligned with the minor axis. Make sure you always aim for the ellipses to be cut into 2 symmetrical halves by the minor axis even if it means ignoring the inital curves.

Also some of your ellipses arent touching the curves,especially with the ellipses at the end of funnels, so try to focus on not leaving space between the arc and ellipse.

Boxes

Your lines are getting little less confident. Approach lines as you did on the previous exercises. It doesn't matter if they're in a box or in a plane, the approach is the same.

On the rough perspective, width lines should be parallel to horizon and height lines perpendicular to horizon. I know this is a difficult task, but keep trying to do your best on it.

On organic perspective, the main issue is that you are repeating lines. Don't forget that no matter how off a line is, you shouldn't repeat it. Repeating it will only make it messier and encourage bad habits, just keep it as if it was correct and move on.

You have some perspective issues but nothing much to worry about as you will be doing the box challenge.

Thanks for the feedback!

Ive been using these exercises as warm ups and I'm seeing improved results. Drawing from the shoulder is still a struggle, certainly getting a better hold of it. I guess that just come with time and repetition.

Just finished the 250 box challenge. Its definitely helped me with the last two exercises of lesson 1.

This recommendation is really just for those of you who've reached lesson 6 and onwards.

I haven't found the actual brand you buy to matter much, so you may want to shop around. This one is a "master" template, which will give you a broad range of ellipse degrees and sizes (this one ranges between 0.25 inches and 1.5 inches), and is a good place to start. You may end up finding that this range limits the kinds of ellipses you draw, forcing you to work within those bounds, but it may still be worth it as full sets of ellipse guides can run you quite a bit more, simply due to the sizes and degrees that need to be covered.

No matter which brand of ellipse guide you decide to pick up, make sure they have little markings for the minor axes.
