Hi there, overall i enjoyed doing all of the work, i struggle bit in organic form with contour line, texture analysis and also the form intersection. But after i got the hang of it i kinda see bit of improvement, idk let me know what part i need to improve, or maybe redoing it, thanks :)

Congrats to have complete lesson 2 !

Arrows : Well let's start this critique, First idk why but you use a blue firstly but It's ok, your lines are good as a whole however you repeating lines, lines should not be repeated even if they're wrong, as always, if there is a mistake it should be ignored. Secondly you should add more compression to your arrow, the arrows need to get bigger and bigger as they go towards the viewer. Both in size, and the spacing between each fold.

Next Sometimes you add lineweight but be carefull with them, here is some points on lineweight :

-When adding lineweight to the arrows, they should only be done with 1 line, no more so the lineweight is not overdone.

-Lineweight needs to be done with a confident, ghosted line. Tracing over the previous line slowly is a mistake.

-Lineweight should only be added to the part that overlaps as well, it is not needed to add lineweight to the full line.

Organic forms : Your sausages are correct and your ellipses too, however te degrees of your ellipses/contours don't change, they stay static.

You contours are hooking which is great however you added lineweight / repeating your lines wrongly again.

To conclude often your ellipses are misaligned so watch out !

Textures : Amazing ! (Tell me the secret :)

Dissections : Exellent !

Form Intersections : This seems correct to me however you added lineweight / repeating your lines wrongly again.

Organic intersection : Pretty good ! However you should add more shadows

Next Steps:

  • 1 page of Arrow

  • 2 page of Organic shapes / 1 ellipse / 1 countours lines

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Hi thanks for the critique and appreciation!, feels wrong replying now, it almost a year later, hope you still there. I use blue pen cuz i have it at that time, and i dont think theres say much about color of the pen, is there?, and Yes i do struggle with the overlap for the arrows, and ofc still trying not to repeat lines. but im more than happy to repeat the lesson, especially those of my weaknesses. So here it is the revision

The Art of Blizzard Entertainment

While I have a massive library of non-instructional art books I've collected over the years, there's only a handful that are actually important to me. This is one of them - so much so that I jammed my copy into my overstuffed backpack when flying back from my parents' house just so I could have it at my apartment. My back's been sore for a week.

The reason I hold this book in such high esteem is because of how it puts the relatively new field of game art into perspective, showing how concept art really just started off as crude sketches intended to communicate ideas to storytellers, designers and 3D modelers. How all of this focus on beautiful illustrations is really secondary to the core of a concept artist's job. A real eye-opener.
