hi there,

welcome to drawbox

lines : You did pretty good job with the lines there. Your good points are : superimposed lines are fraying on only one end, it seems you have prioritized confidence over accuracy. You should keep this up . I see a little more fraying of lines, i hope you are ghosting your lines properly as described in the lesson. Ghosting helps to ensure both confidence and accurary. We know that we must be more concerned about confidence in line, yes its still the priority but lets not forget that accuracy is still in the list. So, ghost your lines all the way. I dont see you having much problem with it , just thought i should mention this part since its very important. About the ghosted lines , i see few wobbles here and there but its alright for now. Make ghosting lines before executing them your habit from onwards. I did see some arched/bent lines , On this i would like to remind you about drawing from your shoulder in order to avoid arched lines in the future. Overall, you did fine with lines.

ellipses: The only problem i see here is wobbly lines in both table of ellipses and funnel exercise ( ellipses are better in planes ) . the solution would be drawing from shoulder and ghosting again. I see you have drawn through your ellipses 2 times which is as recommended in the lesson, good! Also its good that your ellipses are tight packed though i see some gaps in some rows, which is minimum and can be overlooked . In Funnel exercise, you have to draw your ellipses in respect to minor axis that cuts your ellipses in two symetrical halves , which you pretty much did. The problems i see are wobbly lines and some ellipses going out of funnel boundaries or not touching the boundary. Your ellipses should be drawn though 2 to 3 times (which you did), ellipses should be touching eachother/packed nicely without overlapping and overstepping the boundaries of table lines/funnel line.

Again i recommend you to draw from shoulders and ghost your lines properly before executing them.

Boxes: Very good with the plotted perspective, as expected. You've done satisfactory work with the rough perspective. let me just remind you that width lines should be parallel to horizon line and height lines should be perpendicular to horizon and also apply what you learned in lines exercise over here too to avoid wobblylines .I guess you'll have to do rotated box exercise agian. its a difficult exercise to accomplish anyway. The thing is your boxes arent rotating and the lines arent good either. Try visualizing what your box will look like from front after it being totally rotated by 90 degree to the left/right/updown . You'll have to imagine and think alot on this exercise. i recommend you to go back to lesson and learn again about it . On the organic perspective, it seems you have forgotten to add line weight. This work is "okay" , i recommend you to go back and read about line weights in the lesson.

-Thanks

Next Steps:

here are some stuffs you need to do again, i'll review it, to later mark your lesson complete. you can submit the link of your works in reply to get me notified about it.

  • table of ellipses, with confident lines

  • Try doing rotated box once more,

  • organic perpective and make use of line weight.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Great job there !!! you did a neat work and followed the lessons instruction properly. Remember what you learnt here by heart.

Now whats the wait ? Hop on to 250 box challenge !!!

.

.

also yeah, dont forget to do warmup exercises before starting lessons. It will take only 5-10 minutes, have fun with it. Its beneficial in a long run...

Next Steps:

Best of luck !!

Faber Castell PITT Artist Pens

Faber Castell PITT Artist Pens

Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.

Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
