Hi there,
Let's start with your lines:
At the super imposed lines exercise you have fraying on both sides on some tries, so just make sure that you take your time when you are aligning your pen before executing your lines.
There's also occasional wobble in your lines, that's especially noticeable on some of your ghosted planes; in Drawabox you should always prioritize confidence over accuracy, the latter will get better with practice.
Moving on to your ellipses:
Your tables of ellipses look really good! They aren't drawn through more than 3 times and you've even kept most of it to 2 passes later on and that's even better, plus most of them are fit snug in bounds, touching each other and are done with confidence.
In the funnels exercise the minor axes cut the ellipses in halves and are getting bigger as they get further away from the center as well as they should. (Though one thing, in future warm-ups when doing this exercise, feel free to draw the minor axes with a ruler, no need to do it free-handed as it's not the focus of it)
Truly great stuff :D
And lastly, let's take a look at your boxes:
I've noticed in your rough perspective exercises that you sometimes repeat your lines in an attempt to correct them. Please try to ditch this habit, as I've mentioned it before prioritize confidence over accuracy, so even if you miss your mark just move on as it was done correctly while doing DaB homework. Giving yourself more time to ghost lines might be beneficial, but it's up to you, just don't forget to keep things confident ^^
Your rotated boxes turned out great imo!
The boxes keep rotating as they should, the corners are kept close and the boxes are drawn through.
However, there's one thing that you might want to pay some attention to is that some of your lines, especially the ones closer to the outside, arch a bit. If this isn't on purpose then you could try consciously arching in the opposite direction while drawing the lines, that usually helps. Although if it was on purpose: While arching the lines might look good it's not the focus of this exercise and should be avoided in the future when doing this as a warm-up.
But other that that it's a really solid execution of the exercise; keep up the good work!
The organic perspective exercise is done nicely as well:
You had some healthy overlaps in there, no dramatic foreshortening and the boxes get smaller as they get farther in space.
Overall I think this is a really solid submission,
congrats on making it through Lesson 1! :3
Next Steps:
You are ready to move onto the 250 box challenge
Don't forget to Warm up with lesson one exercises before (Drawabox) drawing sessions (keeping the pointers given in this critique in mind :p), and also don't forget about the 50-50 rule, half of the time you spend drawing should be spent drawing for fun! c:
Good luck! ^-^
Staedtler Pigment Liners
These are what I use when doing these exercises. They usually run somewhere in the middle of the price/quality range, and are often sold in sets of different line weights - remember that for the Drawabox lessons, we only really use the 0.5s, so try and find sets that sell only one size.
Alternatively, if at all possible, going to an art supply store and buying the pens in person is often better because they'll generally sell them individually and allow you to test them out before you buy (to weed out any duds).
