Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes
5:25 PM, Monday January 17th 2022
come at me bro's!
Hello, I will be reviewing your work.
First of all congratulations for completing lesson 1.
1. Superimposed Line
This exercise is ok, it doesn't contain many errors, the lines start at the same point, in some parts the line looks a bit wobbly, try to draw your lines with more confidence.
2. Ghosted Lines
in this exercise some lines are wobbly, but overall it's ok, again try to prioritize confidence over accuracy.
3. Tables of Ellipses
Here I see several errors, the first is that you did not align the minor axis of the ellipses, and the second is that you stacked too many of them.
First error: https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/12/remember
Second error: https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/12/step3
4.Ghosted Planes and Ellipses in Planes
There is a noticeable improvement in the lines of the planes, this exercise is well done.
5.Funnels.
In this exercise you did not change the degree of the ellipses, the rest is correct.
I recommend you to review the material of ellipses to understand how to rotate them in 3D space.
6.Plotted Perspective.
Here I don't have much to say, the exercise is very well done.
7. Rough Perspective
The homework here is fine, you marked the lines without hiding your mistakes.
8. Rotated Boxes
This exercise is quite complicated by itself, but I really don't see any mistakes to mention, the boxes are well rotated.
9. Organic Perspective
I don't have much to say here either, you followed the instructions very well.
Conclusion
You completed all the exercises quite well, there was not much to criticize since the tasks were well done, the only thing I would say is that you should review the ellipses section.
In my opinion you are more than ready to start the 250 box challenge
I hope my feedback has been helpful.
Keep it up and don't give up, there is still a long way to go.
If you have any questions don't forget you can also ask on the discord servers.
Note: I'm sorry if something is not understood, my first language is not English, if there is something wrong tell me.
Next Steps:
You should now start with the 250 box challenge and then with lesson 2.
Good luck!
This recommendation is really just for those of you who've reached lesson 6 and onwards.
I haven't found the actual brand you buy to matter much, so you may want to shop around. This one is a "master" template, which will give you a broad range of ellipse degrees and sizes (this one ranges between 0.25 inches and 1.5 inches), and is a good place to start. You may end up finding that this range limits the kinds of ellipses you draw, forcing you to work within those bounds, but it may still be worth it as full sets of ellipse guides can run you quite a bit more, simply due to the sizes and degrees that need to be covered.
No matter which brand of ellipse guide you decide to pick up, make sure they have little markings for the minor axes.
