Drawing backs of boxes + funky angled lines?

I understand that the back-lines of the box are where the 3 visible edges intersect, but I'm really struggling on placing them and they look like they're in the wrong place. Secondly even before drawing the backlines, I think I'm following the method pretty well but when my lines come to meet the box looks like a freaky trapezium instead of a, uh... cuboid?
I tried cleaning problem 2 up in red ink, and it seems the problem is that I'm drawing the 2nd set of lines too long and the 3rd and final set of lines connected to the Y should be going nearly almost at a right angle from the Y?
Even keeping this in mind my brain struggles to place the lines like this or think in 3D space rather than just putting lines down, particularly when I try to give a box depth. Basically just any tips on making a sexier box lol. I'm not sure if imgur links work in the Questions tab but I'll try posting my method
