Me, 250 boxes, and carpal tunnel...

Just a heads up, I didn't mark almost all of the boxes. I did page counts sometimes. Don't be like me, don't be stupid, because as I was scanning these, I lost all sense of progression on the pages I didn't mark.

I was pretty anxious going into the 250 box challenge, I couldn't be sure if I would burn out into oblivion from the shear amount of work put ahead of me. If you're anything like me, you'd get really anxious about doing a challenge like this, just because it's so overwhelming.

Tip, try to set a quota for yourself each day. Common stuff, I know, but this really helped. I knew if I just stuck to my quota, (12 boxes a day), I'd get there in more or less 20 days. Some days I did more. If I missed days, I didn't try to make up for it. Just move on, and keep going. Don't get bogged down by the details.

I don't know if I improved a lot. Still, in the latest boxes I drew, I see mistakes everywhere. I guess, overall, this was a win because I had completed it, and not because it looked extrodinarily better at the end.

It's also more than that - it's a hand-picked recommendation of something I've used myself. If you're interested, here is a full list.

These are what I use when doing these exercises. They usually run somewhere in the middle of the price/quality range, and are often sold in sets of different line weights - remember that for the Drawabox lessons, we only really use the 0.5s, so try and find sets that sell only one size.

Alternatively, if at all possible, going to an art supply store and buying the pens in person is often better because they'll generally sell them individually and allow you to test them out before you buy (to weed out any duds).
