Hi again Chaeryong,

I've checked your submission,

Your organic arrows are looking pretty good, I notice that you are making them flow more in the 2d space of the page, not really giving them much depth. A way to help you create a more solid illusion of depth would be to make the spaces between turns of the arrow wider, as they closer to the viewer.

Seeing your branches exercise, I see that you have a pretty good line quality, but you are not giving yourself the time you need to ghost them and put the marks down when you feel ready. So, give yourself more time to ghost and repeat the motions and don't rush through your lines.

Another thing about this exercises that I also see through your lesson is that you are not varying the degrees of your ellipses. Here is exactly what I mean, this is a major factor to create a solid illusion of depth and form, so take it into account.

Leaves look good, I like the flow and gesture you gave them, though don't forget to think of whats the purpose of each line before putting them down.

Your Plants look pretty good in general, though here are some tips.

In the second plant of the ones you did November 9, I see that in their leaves, you are cutting into your original construction. This is not really recommended in this course, it's not like you cannot do it, it's just it can really weaken your solid forms if done wrong. Here is how you should aproach construction, always building on top of your major forms.

Now, I see that you are very fond of texture, this is totally fine, but if you read carefully the exercises it says that the first 4 constructions should not have detail or texture, focusing only on construction. Remember that this course is focused on construction, so try to give your best in that department, before applying texture.

With all this said and done, I wanted to give you a little feedback on what texture you applied!

First I'm seeing that you are scribbling quite a lot in some of your textures, don't, if you are not really sure of what is the next mark you have to put down, step back and think, you will get nothing done trusting in randomly scribbling. Also, remember that you are supposed to apply textures as you would do in lesson 2, this is in an implicit way using cast shadows. Here is how I would approach the textures of this mushroom.

I'm gonna mark this lesson as completed! Keep it up.

Next Steps:

Move on to lesson 4.

ahhhhhh thank you for reminding me about the critical parts that I've missed. It is really indeed important to re read past lessons every now and then. I've been printing parts of your critiques (esp the images) to serve as a reminder :D :D. Thank you so much for taking the time to critique me! bless you and have a nice holiday Weijak! :)

A lot of my students use these. The last time I used them was when I was in high school, and at the time I felt that they dried out pretty quickly, though I may have simply been mishandling them. As with all pens, make sure you're capping them when they're not in use, and try not to apply too much pressure. You really only need to be touching the page, not mashing your pen into it.

In terms of line weight, the sizes are pretty weird. 08 corresponds to 0.5mm, which is what I recommend for the drawabox lessons, whereas 05 corresponds to 0.45mm, which is pretty close and can also be used.
