Around boxes 110 I finally grasped the concept of forshortening after reading all over again, I was trying to mix it up with the axis,

I just realised that i shouldn´t have made all my lines parallel to each other. So probably I´m gonna make some pages again with not so parallel lines.

I'm open to the critiques, thank you for checking my work.

Hello Fay!

First of all, congratulations on finishing the 250 Boxes Challenge!

I'll point out some stuff i noticed in your drawings.

  • In the first pages you extended your lines in the wrong direction in some of the boxes, but you quickly started placing them in the right direction so i don't think it's a problem really. Also you hatched what i believe to be the back plane of the box 11, so watch out for the direction of the box that is facing the viewer.

  • Your lines diverge almost throughout the whole exercise and i think that's the biggest issue to be addressed. By the end of the challenge you managed to make them more parallel, but still the goal here is to make them converge into the vanishing point.

  • While is great that you have used different proportions and directions of the boxes, i'd like to point out your dramatic foreshortening boxes. Again, it's very good that you are trying to push yourself with this exercise but the lines are converging way too fast and the vanishing point is too close to the boxes so they look really distorted, so i think most boxes would be something in between your regular ones, where the lines are diverging, and the extreme foreshortening, where the lines are converging too fast. I'll tried to exemplify this in this link https://imgur.com/a/2POi0aP.

  • As for your lines, i think they are ok, but there's some wobbling here and there so i'd be careful with that, remember to always draw from your shoulder, even on short lines.

  • I'll you leave you two links with additional tips to help you out with the inner corners. The first one is to take advantage of the lines that are pretty close and make them parallel https://i.imgur.com/8PqQLE0.png and the other one is to draw the inner corner before the last line of the box https://imgur.com/a/DHlA3Jh.

I'm going to ask you to draw 3 more pages of boxes just to make sure you understood the concepts and put that into a little bit of practice.

Hope this has been useful!

Next Steps:

Submit 3 pages of boxes in perspective.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Hey!

I see you boxes already look better, the lines are converging more and the boxes are not getting distorted, so well done!

I think you are ready for lesson 2 now, good luck and have fun!

This is another one of those things that aren't sold through Amazon, so I don't get a commission on it - but it's just too good to leave out. PureRef is a fantastic piece of software that is both Windows and Mac compatible. It's used for collecting reference and compiling them into a moodboard. You can move them around freely, have them automatically arranged, zoom in/out and even scale/flip/rotate images as you please. If needed, you can also add little text notes.

When starting on a project, I'll often open it up and start dragging reference images off the internet onto the board. When I'm done, I'll save out a '.pur' file, which embeds all the images. They can get pretty big, but are way more convenient than hauling around folders full of separate images.

Did I mention you can get it for free? The developer allows you to pay whatever amount you want for it. They recommend $5, but they'll allow you to take it for nothing. Really though, with software this versatile and polished, you really should throw them a few bucks if you pick it up. It's more than worth it.
