Lesson 5: Applying Construction to Animals

Lesson 5 was the biggest difficulty jump I experienced so far. There were so many things I struggled with, especially Proportions, Muzzles and Fur.
I think I struggle with proportions because the complexity of the animal is a little overwhelming, so I sometimes miss out certain landmark points of where different bodyparts intersect. It could also be due to my line accuracy being poor.
Muzzles, especially long and complicated one like horses just perplex the heck out of me. With shorter muzzles, I could use the proximity to other facial features to estimate the position, but when the nose is really far out, its much harder to know where to draw the end. I also struggle with discerning the different planar surfaces of the muzzle, which is more apparent in longer muzzles.
Fur is another big issue for me, I think the main reason I struggle with fur is because of my lack of pen pressure control. My tufts of fur usually have a bolder line than the silhouette of the animal, which seems to make it register as a mini focal point instead of as a furry surface. I'm crutch fixing this by adding a dummy thick line weight to the whole silhouette of the animal, but I still have the issue of making my tufts of fur look flowly and organic.
Thanks for checking my work, if you have any tips on how I can improve, I'm all ears.
