Hi there, unfortunately only later I've noticed that 4 plants should have been without texture. I've added texture to my poppy plant, but if it's needed I'm happy to provide one plant with just construction only, or more plants that were not in the demos (or whatever else is needed). Thank you very much in advance for your feedback.

I will evaluate the homework assignment for this section as follows:

Page 1 (P1): 1 filled page of the Organic Arrows exercise from lesson 2.

Evaluation 1 (E1): Excellent job, I like how precise are the lines flow and you can see the perspective.

P2: 1 filled page of the Leaves exercise.

E2: Excellent job, it feels the flow of every leave and the edges are very well marked.

P3: 1 filled page of the Branches exercise.

E3: Excellent work again, good line overlaping and I can see the branches very clearly.

P4-11: 8 filled pages of plant drawings. The first 4 must have no texture whatsoever, focusing only on construction. The last 4 can have texture/detail but you are not required to go past the constructional phase for these either.

E4 Daisy: Excellent construction.

E5 Mushroom: Excellent construction.

E6 Hibiscus: Excellent construction and depth.

E7 Pitcher Plant: Excellent construction and the texture makes it look so real, great work.

E8 Poppy: Excellent construction and detail.

E9 Onion: Clear and great construction, it's very interesting how you can see the direction of the branches thanks to your marks.

E10 Chilli: Good construction. The way you solved the chillis coming from the main branches looks correct to me, I would just look for other referances (images or in real life) to make sure is correct.

E11 Sunflower: Good construction even though it looks a little rush, I would have take a little more days to finish this homework to have better results but in general it was good.

Even though the first 4 pages (P4-P7) were without texture, you have such a good understanding of construction that it's ok.

I would have take a little more days to finish the last two pages beacuse your results look a little rush compare to your previous pages however you did an excellent job and I can see that you have a clear understanding of construction and detail.

In general you're working hard an creating excellent work, there are some details that you could work on but so far so good!

Hey Paola, thank you so much for your critique, it's very helpful and I really appreciate that you took the time to analyze and write about each page!

I will try to not rush as much in the upcoming lessons. I was really worried because I can feel that when I take breaks from Drawabox I lose my practice for the ghosting method and my marks become more wobbly than not.

If that's okay to ask.. I was wondering, if you are also taking the community path, how do you balance keeping your dexterity and mechanical skills inbetween lessons?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I'm so happy that I could be of help on your path.

I understand about the breaks. I myself stopped Drawabox for a couple of months and I was worried about my abilities fading but funny enough that didn't happen. I decided to learn more about color theory and anatomy and when I came back to Drawabox I was able to integrate what I have learned from other subjects and made me feel more confident, you could test it maybe not leaving for months but starting with one day then 2 and see how you feel, I know how hard this can be so always observe yourself and practice accordingly.

Hope this is helpful :D

Rapid Viz

Rapid Viz

Rapid Viz is a book after mine own heart, and exists very much in the same spirit of the concepts that inspired Drawabox. It's all about getting your ideas down on the page, doing so quickly and clearly, so as to communicate them to others. These skills are not only critical in design, but also in the myriad of technical and STEM fields that can really benefit from having someone who can facilitate getting one person's idea across to another.

Where Drawabox focuses on developing underlying spatial thinking skills to help facilitate that kind of communication, Rapid Viz's quick and dirty approach can help students loosen up and really move past the irrelevant matters of being "perfect" or "correct", and focus instead on getting your ideas from your brain, onto the page, and into someone else's brain as efficiently as possible.
