Finished Lesson 1 Exercises :) Feedback appreciated! Thanks :D
Hello WobotWizard! Congratulations on finishing Lesson 1 exercises. I'll look through your exercises.
Concerning to yourLines, you did a good job with the superimposed lines exercise.I noticed that in your ghosted lines/ ghosted planes exercises your lines got wobbly, as I think you were concerned with accuracy.Remember to always prioritize confidence, since with practice your accuracy will get better.Maybe this comment will help you, it helped me with the same topic.
Now, about Elipses I see you kept all the ellipses whithin the bounds and without overlapping, nice done. A few of them are slightly uneven, keep practicing and prioritizing confidence and smoothness, as with lines. In the funnels exercise, some of your ellipses aren't aligned so the minor axis don't cut them into symmetrical halves. It's not a big problem now, so keep practicing and do some in your warm-ups :)
Last but not least, Boxes. In the rough perspective, I can see improvement in your understanding of perspective and confidence. In the rotated boxes exercise, I think what happened was that some of the VP's of your boxes didn't slide and therefore some of your boxes didn't rotate, so you stretched some boxes into the distance. Overall, you got the point of infering information so don't worry about making the exercise "perfect". As a little advice for the future, using hatching would've helped to make the image more readable and a little less confusing, if possible remember to use it in your next boxes.
And about organic perspective, you did a good job even without vanishing points nor neighbouring forms to guide you.
I think you're ready to tackle the 250 box challenge, so I'll mark this lesson as complete. Good luck, and keep moving forward!
Next Steps:
Move on to the 250 boxes challenge. Make sure to use some of the exercises from this lesson as a warmup later on.
Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.
Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
